Good call, 73. That's EXACTLY what Alumni Hall SHOULD be!

Stumbled upon this doing some other research. This is the Athletic and Wellness Center at Loras College, a small, Division 2 Catholic University in Dubuque, Iowa. I'm not an engineer, but someone tell me why this, or something similar, can't be done with Alumni Hall? Capacity is between 2,200 and 2,900, depending on the event. By the way, Loras College has an endowment of $24 million. iiwminnesota.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/05/l4.jpg

Because the University doesn't want to spend the money but in the words of the Athletic Director AH still remains "a bad high school gym" and in the words of the outgoing Senior VP/Chief of Staff "not up to Division 1 standards".
However, that interior renovation along with chairback seating, video screen scoreboard and the University's 2000 façade design would be perfect for Stag Women's Basketball and an asset to the campus. Should that happen. Yes. Will it happen? I doubt it even though Fairfield University has over ten times the endowment of Loras College.

What struck me was the similarity in the shape and structure. Get rid of the overhead scoreboard, go with screens on either end, as others have done. I simply don't understand the blind spot those in Administration have for the most outdated structure on the campus which just happens to be one of the first things visitors see.

I'm quite sure they're all being well remunerated, and at $60,000 per student, they should be. Much of academia will ALWAYS complain when athletics get funded, and they never understand how much high profile athletics help an institutions visibility.

If Alumni Hall was a horse, they'd a shot it long ago.

If Alumni Hall was a horse then they probably would have let it die of old age rather than spend the money on a bullet.
Ignoring the problem does not make it go away, it is an embarrassing eyesore on campus both inside and out, it is not an asset to the University's NCAA Division 1 Women's Basketball program but a hindrance and will ultimately cost more money to fix the problem the longer they wait. However, the University is asking for your financial support to fix Alumni Baseball Diamond instead.
Facility Projects: Baseball Facility renovation Lacrosse Stadium Construction Recreational Complex renovation
From the University's Facility Gifts page:
Modern facilities are essential to keeping a program viable. They affect recruitment of both coaches and student-athletes, and provide a fan and student experience. A facility tells a story about your program. These stories capture the minds and of the young men and women who are considering Fairfield University at their college of choice. When a recruit is deciding which college he or she wishes to attend, facilities rank as one of the top three factors in their decision.
Building and renovating facilities reaffirms Fairfield University’s commitment to its athletic programs in a public setting. By making a gift, you can join the University’s commitment to provide students with the finest facilities in the region.

If I was a Saint Joes alum, issues like this would scare the heck out if me. they have faced a bunch of similar issues that we have, including many issues on their field house. They went and got money for an upgrade. Our guys ( Reed included) have done nothing.

I'm quite sure Coach Frager and Coach Kress are thrilled with the above quote from the University's gift page. What a disgrace!
