Seeing that this thread started out as a transfer thread and you people who are so out of whack about our transfers, take a look at ZagsBlog and their listing of transfers around the country. Specifically, look at Boston U. and how thrilled their players are on playing in the Patriot League. By the way, that kid Watson is a hell of a point guard.
Kids transferring has become the norm. Just read that Maryland had three kids transfer out just yesterday.
Interesting quote from a local (unidentified coach) about the transfer phenomenon.
“These kids don’t know how to work for anything,” said one local coach, whose program has been helped, more than it’s been hurt, by transfers. “They transfer colleges, high schools, AAU teams. It’s an instant gratification society and culture.”

Another VERY interesting quote in this article from an (unidentified) source said, "Jenkins (meaning our own Stag) wanted to play in a more fast paced system that could highlight his ability." Does this suggest something a bit different than the commonly held view that Sydney wanted to "run him off" the team? Who knows. But the whole point of this article I would think is that not only are the kids trying for instant gratification, but so are the coaches because of the pressure to win immediately to hold onto their jobs.

and Jamal Turner wanted to return to Boston, Kris Steele wants more of an open style of play, Fleming wanted to go south,, etc. etc. These kids need to say something that is somewhat positive. I credit him for not trashing the coach or the program. There should not be any doubt in anyone's mind that Jenkins is leaving because Sydney sent clear signals he didn't want Jenkins and Jenkins wasn't playing enough for his liking. Its that simple, and has little to do with anything else.

I spoke with Justin Jenkins today and he said that he was transferring. Not sure where yet. Really nice guy and he said he only started playing basketball in the 10th grade. His basketball upbringing in the Bronx was more freestyle and he was used to the pick and roll system. The backdoor cuts in Fairfield U system was tough for him to get adjusted too. I didn't detect any bitterness from him towards Fairfield U or Sydney J.
I wished him well on his remaining two years of eligibility.
What I am most proud of Jenkins is how he had to battle academically to meet NCAA standards. And while at Fairfield he actually made honors for at least 1 sememster.
His inconsistent offense reminded me of Kudjo Sogadzi..... having flashes of greatness. The difference between the 2,was that Kudjo was a strong ballhandler and strong defender..... even when his shot was off. I thought Jenkins could fit into a role of "Instant Offense" off the bench, if he improved his handle. My guess would be he ends up at St Francis(NY) or LIU
Verbal Commits shows us offering Macari Brooks, Tre Burnette and JaMill Powell as JUCO guards. I'm sure we are looking at a few more and some 5th year guards. I'd love to see us get one of these big scorers or a proven 5th year 2G or combo who averaged 15 ppg. I'm curious if anyone knows who is out there we might be interested in.
Brooks signs with the University of Pikeville. Never even heard of the school.
Apparently the University of Pikeville (KY) Bears are in the Mid South Conference of the NAIA, Divison 1. They were the 2013-14 Regular Season Champions and the MSC Tournament Champions.
