I'm not really sure if Nolan needed a great deal of 'recruiting' because he goes to Prep and lives in the area. Bahar apparently had gone to some of his games so perhaps he may have had the most to do with that.
Guess we'll have to wait and see what happens with Syd's recruits and how many he will need to bring in (2. 3, or 4 scholarships?) to see if the terms of Tommy's redshirting next year will hold or change. Ultimately that will be determined by the coaching staff and Tom's family based on the needs of the team. I'd say too early to tell right now with 2 more coaches needing to be replaced and how up in the air everything is right now.....
What everyone needs to understand is that Tommy is very much a team player who would be an excellent addition to a system that is far different than the one currently being employed by Sydney. He is best not being the high scorer (although he has that capability at times), but rather doing all the other facets of the game that makes for a successful team. Great teamwork and leadership, not individual play, is what will make the Stags better going forward!
Malik Petteway and Jeremiah Livingston do NOT qualify academically. No bigger schools than FFLD are interested in them. At best they will both Prep School but they still need to do well on testing scores and that is a big problem for both. Start looking elsewhere.
That's info that I didn't know. Thanks Talladega. Means they are both at least one year away. Also may explain why there has been so much silence regarding their recruitment.
I saw the LL state championship game. here's my take - Love Nolan's game, he plays hard. - He's a great high school player - He would bring needed energy to Fairfield - He never gives up on a play - He has a winning attitude That said - I'm not sure he is a true D1 talent - I;m not sure he will be an upgrade over Segura - His shot looked suspect. He was 2-31 in warm-ups before the game. - He didn't seem to make a high percentage of his shots in the game.
You can't make too many determinations about a kid based on one game, particularly the first time a kid plays in front of a crowd of 5000, he had to be a little nervous. So I hope Nolan proves to be the real deal. But as much as I love many things about him, I'm a long way away from thinking he is the solution to our issues at guard.
Please make special note of this nice bulleted format
Nice work Reindeer, you must have taken an excellent class on the subject!
RF, he has played before bigger crowds or at least as big previously. Last two years in fact in this same game. And many other PACKED gyms. I don't really think he was nervous. That said I think it is interesting that your first look impressions kind of match those of myself (who has seen him many times). The only thing I would modify here is that I would call him a D-1 talent, but with certain limitations that would preclude him from being a star or difference maker. As I have said before maybe sort of like what Jamel Fields became as a player. But he certainly could have value coming off the bench to spark the team just by using his energy and enthusiasm in a positive manner. We need more high caliber guards however.

Nash, I thought your comparison to fields was a good one. I felt Fields coming in was a good back-up player that could develop into a starter. He was a great change of pace guy, and a great team player. He brought energy and defense. That is exactly how I see Nolan right now. Could he be more? Absolutely. I love his heart. I'm just not seeing Terrance Todd or Derrick Needham, something some fans seem to be projecting on Nolan. Those are not fair expectations for someone who seems to be a very nice player.
What about Roy Kane, Jr. of Norwalk. Not an option?
Another mystery man. Talk until recently was he was D-II caliber only. Play near the end of the year was spectacular however. 6'5-6'6 "point forwards" don't fall off of trees. Not sure of academic status. I do know that like with other area players, Martin Bahar was connected. Knows Norwalk coach Keyes well. Any connections now that Martin is gone? Don't know.

There's 9 boys on the LL 1st team all state. I seem to remember 1st team and 2nd team selections being 5 guys on each --- anyone know when or why they decided to make the change?

Not like it used to be, right 76? Don't know the reason, doesn't make sense. That said, both Nolan and Foley of Prep are deserving of being placed here IMO. They both had outstanding years in helping the team win the LL championship. BTW keep an eye on a player who made the second team, sophomore Joe Kasperzyk of Hillhouse. He has the potential to be a real star in high school in the next couple of years. And (assuming his academics are in order) he should certainly be a D-1 recruit.
