Nice job by Ivy...... MCing the event. He asked all the questions, and follow-ups. No portion for fans to ask questions during the formal part of the program. But coaches, players and admins were around 2-3 hours answering questions in smaller groups. Lot of info exchanged. Not the normal Doc's Roundtable format, but just as effective for gettin questions answered.
- Amadou looked healthy from walking around, however test will be if he can play hoops. We will not know that until the fall.
- When asked if Cobb is a 3-star player, the eyes usually lit up from coach or player and response was basically that he is very good and expect him to play. Can play the 1,2 or 3.
- Segura is completely healthy from his meniscus surgury. I had the exact same one and we joked that the knee is probably 110% and better than his healthy knee. Seemed very confident.
- Kirkland looks bigger, but maybe it was his longer fro. Heard that Degnan is in great shape, .....back to where he was prior to his injury last year
- Jerry Johnson's nickname is Jerry Buckets for his ability to score. He is a combo guard that can play the point. A shooter, who can hunt down his shots. Strong looking guard.
- Tyler, Cobb and Jerry Buckets can all play some PG, but Buckets might have played the most time at PG. Someone said a shooting PG.
- Schedule - Tourney is @north Carolina, @northwestern, Colombia at home, @maryland-Eastern Shore. Loyola at home, SHU at Home, @bucknell, Yale at CentralCT. 2-3 more games to schedule. Kyle Koncz and Mitch looking for easier type of games..... but its tough
- Recruiting for this Seems done..... but Recruiting never stops.
- Postseason is this years goal, along with top half of the MAAC

the staff of assistant coaches presently in place seem to be smart. assertive, tough, and hard working. we shall see - -
Agree with this statement. Parrotta especially will really be an asset IMO. BTW, looks like Columbia (as part of the "tournament") will be a home game with the Stags also playing away at Maryland Eastern Shore. Also, the Loyola game will be in Bridgeport this season. About 3 more games in the negotiating process with the strong possibility that at least one of these will be played at home.

My Bad..... we are not playing Maine..... I meant to say Columbia at home. And its @northwestern, not @northeastern.
Parrotta seems like a very strong Recruitor. And Mitch gave his impression of the team which was Very Positive. He says he gets in at 8:30 and by that time Jonathon Kasibaba has already been working out since 7AM. Big, Strong and he can Run. IMO, His upside is Anthony Johnson clone. Maybe with a little less hops than AJ, but more skills. Another comparison was that he was similar to Manhert's of Canisius.
The best quote of the Night was from Parrotta. He said "Mitch recruited him to Fairfield, but he did not want to go because he felt that Mitch would yell at him too much. So he went to Fordham, and Penders yelled at him."
I believe the Q&A was videotaped.

No Update on Malcolm, but he will be coming up to Stagland today. And the other thing, lots of positive words about Scott King from coaches and players. Expectations is for him to provide "immediate impact". He is a senior, He is ready, No learning curve as he did some really good things at StonyBrook. A true Princeton Type center. IMO, King and Degnan will be battling for PT, and this will be great for Degnan's growth.
guards, guards , guards (good ones) are the key to sustained success in the MAAC and once again the key to a successful '15-16 season. Our guards are young(frosh/soph.), if they develop we will get better as the season goes on, if not, it is PIG city once again for the loyal Stag fans. The turn over of guards under Syd "" Johnson is killing us. Perhaps, with last years recruits nelson/segura and now cobb/Johnson things will settle down a bit and the stags will find the consistency they need at the 1,2& 3 spots.

Marcus has been consistent at SF but he's certainly not a guard. Tyler is a fine backcourt centerpiece and Cobb should be as well. A great pair to buld around. Question marks seem to be Rome: is he ready to run a team, and JJ: a strong combo who has excellent reports as a shooter but will be asked to do more.
And the fact remains that we are playing with only 4 scholarship guards.
'79, 1 agree 4 scholarship guards is mighty thin. Rumor is we are still working on a late summer p/u at point guard, perhaps from overseas. Nothing concrete. The "preferred walk-on" from last year jared harper, can he provide some depth? Only appeared in four games with total playing time of four minutes? desperate, perhaps?
I liked hearing that they recognize the value in the Sacred Heart game. Jerry Johnson looked very big to me. Did I hear that Nolan will be a walk on this year? I thought he was going to a prep school.

It is going to be very interesting to see how the coaches divvy up playing time. On the surface it would appear that:
Nelson has to play 30+ minutes. He's too good to sit down for very long.
Segura has to play 30+ minutes (who else could possibly play the majority of the PG minutes?)
Cobb (if he is as good as advertised) probably has to play 30+ minutes.
Marcus Gilbert, who averaged 16 ppg, has to play 30+ minutes.
Jerry Johnson, the only other guard, will have to play a decent amount (20 mins?) to give Nelson/Segura/Cobb rests.
That probably leaves about 60 minutes to split between 9 other players. That's not many minutes.
