The basic message I got from last night’s meeting was that we need our freshman to play well for us to be a very good team. However, they are not there right now. Sydney emphasized that the Frosh are talented, but they need to improve and do it more quickly. They had a meeting with the frosh yesterday on the urgency of his expectations. The message was that the Frosh have to earn their minutes, or else they won’t play. The seniors have provided great leadership instilling that work ethic.
Sydney feels that there are a lot of good teams at the top of the MAAC, and with most people predicting us between 3rd and 8th , that is probably accurate. He expects us to be very good by season end, but to get to that point we will have to rely on freshmen improvement. He is looking for the trio of Needham, Wade and Nickerson
IMO, Sydney stresses player improvement, and seems to require that happen in practice. He also acknowledged the difficulty of our schedule, and he is feeling both excitement and angst over the difficultly and the lack of home games.
