In the Friday edition of the Fairfield Citizen there was an item listed in the legal notices page (B9) which I'm sure might be of great interest to those who read this board. First of all, credit to great Stag fan 'Real McCoy' for the discovery. Because I don't know how to transpose the info to a computer I will just copy the notice word for word
Town Of Fairfield Zoning Board of Appeals Notice of Special Meeting
On June 13th the ZBA will be commencing to hear a series of town applications on that date, the one of interest to us (I assume) is item # 13 which states as follows- 1073 North Benson Road, Map 143, Parcel 160. Petition of Fairfield University for a variance of the zoning Regulations; Section 5.2.2 to increase the height of a building from 40 feet, proposing to 53.2 feet. Permission to construct a new convocation center. Premises: AAA Zone.
Just the hint you were waiting for Paulie! Now let’s focus on suggestions to make the best it can be (I guess everyone needs to see the main plans first - Ha).
Is it too earlier to pick your chair-back seat location in an ON CAMPUS college venue? Kind of nice to imagine after all these years!
So..... Who is going to at the Town of Fairfield zoning meeting on Thursday, June 13th.

I actually went down there to see what was going on. Got there at 2:45 at the meeting that started at 2. They were just on their third legal debate on the way to the Fairfield U. proposal that I believe was 13th in line. Not THAT interested that I wanted to wait around for 2-3 hours, I left. Info to come out in due time I would think.
Rider just announced that an alumnus has donated over $2 million to help renovate Rider's basketball gym and athletic facilities. This is the kind of signature donation that Fairfield needs right now for Alumni Hall and athletics in general, we could use a couple of deep pocketed Wall Street alums to fork over some cash for the Stags
Well yeah sure, but actually I think it's obvious we DO have that very thing going on right now based on how close we are to announcing this big project on the horizon, a project BTW that really makes this Rider renovation look kind of small in comparison, does it not? It might be taking a lot longer than everyone of us wanted, but a brand new Alumni Hall should be far preferable to a few adjustments to the Broncs Zoo I think. Now what would really help is if our basketball team became far preferable to that team (and every other league team), hopefully something that will start to occur under this new coaching staff.
Despite Rider's much smaller endowment than Fairfield's ($56 million vs. $355.3 million) Rider's Alumni Gym has gone through several renovations in its history (1958) with the most recent being in 2012. Recent renovations include the addition of a modern heating and air conditioning system, a drop ceiling with recessed lighting, a new sound system, and a new branding campaign to celebrate the history of the sports utilizing the facility and to reflect the official Rider Athletics logos.
"The renovation of our facilities is a critical step in moving our athletics programs forward," said Rider University President Gregory G. Dell'Omo. "I thank Wayne and Jill for their support of this and so many other University projects and their steadfast investment in the future success of our teams."
The University is currently raising funds to enhance the Gym with a particular emphasis on the overall fan experience, with new areas for ticketing and concessions, new premium seating and box seats, and a major expansion and renovation of the lobby, including increasing the number of restrooms, among other improvements.....
With the neglect and lack of renovations to Alumni Hall, the new on campus Basketball/Convocation Center can't come soon enough for the athletic programs, students, alumni and Stag fans and is way, way overdue for the University that proclaims itself "The Modern Jesuit Catholic University".

I do not think 2 million is a signature donation that we need. We have those donations from many of our past donors. What we do need is for our 15 to 20 million dollar donation to be collected in 2020. I believe that this Donor has naming rights.
