It started life as the Gymnasium in 1959 then became Alumni Hall in the early 80s and if anyone gives the most money it will become the Your Name Here Whatever. As for me, I like the "Fieldhouse".
Multi-Purpose Arena, Locker Rooms, Offices, Training Rooms, Hospitality Areas:
With these renderings available, I now wonder how long it will take before there is finally the much anticipated "official" announcement from the University about basketball, graduation and concert seating capacity, costs, demolition date, construction dates and completion date and more importantly a real fundraising campaign with naming rights and donation levels targeting us, our fellow alumni, parents and Stag fans far and near?
Season ticket buyers, Friends of Stag Men's Basketball, Stag fans, students and our fellow alumni should have been polled to see what amenities and features they would want in the new on campus basketball facility as they are the ones being asked to pay to go to the games, buy season tickets, buy Stags Club memberships and to financially support the program. Marketing 101 and Development 101.
-- Entry to the building is at the sidelines not the end zone. This allows for a much more open and majestic entry to the building. -- The space looks super efficient and I believe the two tier design adds to that efficiency -- Love the glass windows over the entry which appears to be some kind of an "entertainment or serving" space-great open look just like the RecPlex. -- Patio on the side integrated in a park like setting between Barone and the Convocation Center really adds to the aesthetics -- Love the front of the building and the integration of the glass and light brick. -- The photos of the set up for graduations and concerts, really underscores that this facility is not just a sports arena, it is a convocation center and is being built to accommodate the needs of the entire university.
If the building comes off like the renderings and they don't skimp on the interior appointments, this will truly be a venue fitting the top ranked NE Regional University.
Once fully approved and construction starts, these photos should be plastered all over town, especially at the bookstore with a kiosk right next to it for season ticket sign up info. We will have two years to generate excitement. I can see it on the electronic billboards on I-95 too.

Looks great. Plenty of room to hang all the future banners.
Capacity?
These are the same renderings that were available last December. At that time the Attendance was about 4,000 for sports and 4,500 if they used the center court for convocation. They have added a few more renderings that show how it would look from the outside. The Main Entrance is coming from Barone Campus Center.

Wow looks really good. Hope they dont actually re-name it "Fairfield University Convocation Center" though
It my understanding that we have a donor that wants Naming Rights to the building. To get Naming Rights, I believe that the Donation has to be at least in the 15 to 20 Million dollar range.

In addition to the My Name Here for the entire building naming rights should be available for everything from the locker rooms to the lobby to the Stags Club to everything that can have a price on it. I still like the idea of cutting up the hardwood floor to sell to alumni donors so they can "an own a piece of Stag history".

Yes it does. And that's exactly what Jay Young and staff should be emphasizing to all the kids he is recruiting from now on. Maybe to borrow a line from the former coach, "the future (really) is bright" this time. Exciting times ahead for sure!
I get its just renderings, but I dont see any boxes or "VIP" area. Need to make sure we have that to wine and dine on what should be the crown jewel of campus.
