I get its just renderings, but I dont see any boxes or "VIP" area. Need to make sure we have that to wine and dine on what should be the crown jewel of campus....
The rendering does show two rows of courtside seats but even more reasons why the University should have asked Season Ticket buyers, Friends of Men's Basketball, Stags Club members, area alumni and Stag fans what they wanted and are needed in the new building. Afterall these are the people being asked to buy the tickets and support the basketball program.

Hopefully a Red Sea student section too.
Late in the season, i spoke to someone "in the know" about what was going on - supposedly, the powers that be went to QU, Monmouth and other newer gyms - all came away with many "we don't have that/we need that" thoughts. My concern is that the architects should have known or suggested everything that can and should be done - i expect thoroughness from the design teams - even if a lot was rejected. I came away with feeling that, at least at that stage, it was "amateur hour".
Monmouth's 4,000 seat OcenFirst Bank Center (built in 23 months)(Rosser International architects)
Quinnipiac's 3,570 seat People's United Center (built in 27 months)(Centerbrook architects, same as Fairfield)
Bucknell's 4,000 seat Sojka Pavillion (built in 21 months)(Rosser International architects)
Rosser International Architects Memphis Pyramid AT&T Midtown Center Turner Field Arena at Gwinnett Center Petersen Events Center Verizon Arena United Spirit Arena Rhoads Stadium Joan C. Edwards Stadium Bud Walton Arena
With still nothing "official" from the University, IF or when demolition starts, then it should be about 24 months to completition. IF demo started after this coming 2019-20 season ended in March 2020 then I would assume that the new Alumni Hall/Convocation Center wouldn't be available for basketball games until the 2022-23 season which means at least three more seasons of the status quo.

I think there are multiple VIP areas in upper deck. I think they tie in to that glass atrium area at the front of the center.
They will not overlook this aspect. It has been a great option at Rafferty.

Ah ok. I figured they were somewhere, it just wasnt glaring where they were.

Well hopefully the best parts will be copied and the worst rejected based on existing buildings as put together by this design team. And speaking of the latter, one thing I never liked about the QU facility is how far away the end-zone seats are in relation to the court. It does seem however that that won't be a problem here if the pictures are a true representative of what we will get, so that's a good thing I think. And Monmouth, while in general it is good, one thing that is hard to fathom in such a new place is how tight many of the rows of seats are to each other. Very uncomfortable actually. So that is certainly something that SHOULD NOT be copied IMO.

Happy that they are changing the court from east to west. I remember when we were playing St.Joe's ( in an afternoon game) where they had to cover the windows at both ends of alumni hall because of the sun coming in on the court affected the light on the baskets and for TV broadcasting. This is a "little thing" but something that must be taken into consideration by the architects.
-- I like the seating configuration much better than Monmouth and QU. The seating appears to be closer to the court and less of a "Rose Bowl" effect. That is the criticism we have with the WBA hockey rink design.
-- It does not appear to have the cold concrete feel at QU
-- The attention to detail on the interior will be critical. The great failing of the Monmouth design IMO is that in accommodating the "multi-use" purpose, it is not an ideal seating venue. the built in track on the upper level makes the portable seating up there the most uncomfortable you could imagine.
-- From what we can see in the renderings, this really looks like it is keeping folks close the court and in the game. The concert and graduation set up also looked impressive.
-- I also hope the final scoreboard does not have the circular ribbon at the bottom that is in the rendering. This design is what is at QU and is very difficult to read. The four sides at the bottom should be four flat sides like the rest of the scoreboard similar to the WBA.

One of the University's original seals (Fairfield University of St. Robert Bellarmine) on campus is in the lobby floor of Alumni Hall. Years ago while talking with FvA about AH he too agreed that historic seal needed to be saved. Hopefully somehere on campus if not in the new Alumni Hall Convocation Center.

Put it in the Bellarmine Museum as part of the history of FU.
Is it just my computer or have all of the new convocation renderings disappeared from this site for everyone else as well?
Yes, I noticed that the other day thay they were gone. FU mustve gotten wind they got put up and told them to take them down since nothing was formally announced yet.

Yes, CenterBrook deleted them from their site. Luckily, some of the Photo's were saved off their site. Nobody has asked me to remove the renderings off this site.
