Outstanding road win against, in my mind, the second-best team in the MAAC. Glad we survived this trip to Loudonville unlike two years ago when the Saints put the hurt on Lou and company, who finished 22-1 in league play. Niagara is red hot, winners of nine straight. But Fairfield can clinch the regular-season title at home. I like our chances. I just hope that Kendall McGruder is back in the lineup as soon as Saturday.

Stags 56-50 at the end of the Third Quarter with 17 turnovers. Meghan Andersen with 19 points (3 pts. 5/11) Siena's Teresa Seppala with 24 points. Seppala needs to take a lesson from Emina. Jump in the portal after beating up the Stags. Would look great in red. Is there any NCAA restriction that a friend can't call a friend?😉 Meg seems to be easing out of her slump. "Quietly" scored 19 points.

I'm happy with this result. Siena has seemed like the toughest match up. The Stags miss McGruder. She's always ready to shoot and I think that opens things up and she usually makes a pass or two to someone for an easy basket. Nice to see Andersen back into it after a few quiet games. Now we'll see what Niagara can bring the second time. A win clinches the MAAC for the Stags. The hard part with missing a top 5 scorer is the replacement players we have are not offensive minded. Iza didn't even shoot last night, Gallagher played 36 minutes and shot twice. Losing 8.5 points per game from a 24 minute player and getting it replaced with 50 plus minutes and 2 offensive shots won't cut it in the long run.

The officiating in this game has been exceptionally poor. One of the worst officiated games they have had this year.

The win also brings Fairfield's record to (23-1) overall including a perfect (15-0) in the MAAC. They have also posted 13 road wins, tying for the most in the country."We knew that was going to be a tough game and it's good for us to be tested," Head Coach Carly Thibault-DuDonis said. "I'm proud of how our toughness showed up in a lot of different ways. Whether it was rebounding the ball, making some difficult catches, or digging in on defense to get stops when we needed them. We probably could have done a better job at different times but I'm proud of how we gutted this one out against a really tough team."
"We're going to get everybody's best shot," Coach Carly said. "We've got some great upper-class leadership with Nellie (Brown), Iza (Nicoletti-Leite), and (Lauren) Beach. They have really rallied us together and done a great job at keeping us poised. But we also have Emina, Nicole, and Kendall and a lot of good voices to help us through adversity."Box Scorefairfieldstags.com/boxscore.aspx?path=wbball&id=13892The #1 Stags will look to clinch the MAAC Regular Season title, (also in 1990, 1991, 2000, 2022), when they host preseason favorite #2 Niagara on Saturday at 2pm. Fairfield beats a tough Siena team on the road to go to 23-1 and drop a spot in the NET rankings behind a 9-loss Ivy league team that didn't play last night. Make it make sense!!

Any word on Mcgruder? Will she be available on Saturday? Leite really needs to shoot in order to keep the opponents defense honest. She is wide open because opponents playing five defenders vs four FF offensive players when she is on the floor.

At this level, you can't have players that won't shoot or can't score, recipe for disaster. They are sagging off her by 7-8 feet, not even a threat.

How about Kate Peek? She's there as a shooter.

How about Kate Peek? She's there as a shooter. Same with Prior. I think Prior has better numbers, but neither of them seem to be able to play consistent, tough defense at this level. They both played a lot against Iona I believe, and neither looked good on D against a weaker Iona team. Not sure if FF can play zone and get them more minutes or not.

How about Kate Peek? She's there as a shooter. I think both her and Prior can shoot. My guess is the concern would be on the defensive side. Both need to add some quickness/strength. The short-term solution is for Iza to shoot more. If she's 100% uncovered... have to let it fly. I think she should be an OK shooter in that situation. Seppala for Siena was impressive. She will be a problem in the coming years.

In case we all forgot, the win also brings Fairfield's record to (23-1) overall including a perfect (15-0) in the MAAC. They have also posted 13 road wins, tying for the most in the country. Must be doing something right! Wouldn't know it with all the changes (defense, rotation) proposed on this board!

Other teams are figuring out the Stags on offense and defense, this will be the time to see what the Stags are made of with level of play, adjustments, etc. The MAAC tourney is all that matters, gotta win.

The win streak is nice and perhaps a top 25 ranking that it yields. However, what is important is to win the next game and next game after that etc. One at a time. To do that they will need Mc Gruder back and in the interim while she is out get some points from Leite.
