hey you never know, maybe Jalen and JJJ don't find what they're looking for and return to Fairfield??
IMO Jalen will have numerous quality D1 options. He will not be looking back.
JJJ may also receive multiple options, but not the same caliber programs. I think CC and company may have a line on better options at that point and may not have an opportunity for JJJ even if he wanted to return.
Once you commit to the portal, coaches need to move on for the good of their program.

I read that 40 percent of players that enter the portal dont get picked up across all sports. Football is a big part of that number. I’d love to see some basketball only stats on this topic if anyone has them.
I thought to this point , John’s was a big disappointment in light of his 3 star rating and won’t get much interest from Portal
Agree on John’s. Originally touted as FF first four star player who was then down graded to a three star. His first two years at FF were wholly uninspiring. Seems to me when ever he was put into a game he tried to do to much often resulting in a TO or a bad shot. I can appreciate how difficult it was for him to return to the team this year. A change of team often is a rebirth for a player. Perhaps this will be JJJ story going forward.

I wish him nothing but the best. Once a Stag always a Stag. I do understand if he feels a change of scenery might benefit him.

I would be interested in the breakdown by sport. Keep in mind, scholarships aren't guaranteed. To one degree or another, some of the players entering the portal have essentially been shown the door. The option to stay at a particular school (on scholarship) isn't there.
I remember Fairfield had a guard or two, during the SJ era, who it seemed fell into this scenario... and I think at least one of them ended up just staying at Fairfield for his education.

Fairfield had 2 players from that team (KJ Rose and Doug Chappell) that did not play again for any program after their second year at Fairfield. I believe neither were extended a scholarship after their second year. I felt bad about this as it seemed to be a recruiting mistake to offer them to begin with. In my mind Rose should have played down a level, he was just not ready to be the point guard at a d1 program as a freshman. I felt especially bad because he was hardworking and played hard. Just didn't have the skill level. I believe that Chappell might have stayed at Fairfield and graduated, but I am not certain about this....

Doug Chappell played for D-11 Adelphi after leaving Fairfield.
