In the CBI Tournament, isn't Matt Curtis averaging around the same scoring and playing time as Leach did in the regular season? I think that's fantastic and I feel bad that he has been stuck on the bench all season. Go Matt!

We can't go back and be concerned about Matt"s journey. The "here and now" is all that matters. He's under no pressure. Things have a way of working out.
When u have graduate students / seniors in front of you it is hard to break into the starting lineup. Most coaches will always go with experience first before a talented frosh. Curtis will certainly have his time in the spotlight for the next 1,2,3 years leading to graduation or transfer in the portal.
Hard to see how Matt could have gotten minutes this year. Fields, Leach and Goodine are all stronger, more experienced guards. Better players in every facet of the game. Great to see him scoring in these tournaments. And it bodes well for him being in the rotation next season.

Yeah basically once all the guards returned to the lineup Matt was really the 4th stringer at his best position, shooting guard behind Jalen, Brycen and Caleb (when he played the two spot alongside Floyd). Anyway given the year the Stags have had, how can anyone complain about how Casey handled the back-court situation? Moving forward however, Matty could indeed become a regular and perhaps even a star down the road once he gets physically stronger and more experienced at the college level.

Yes, Matty did get to see the floor a little but we had 4 stellar guards, he was in tough competition for playing time. I was high on him in high school, he will however need to continue to work on his defense has he has some work to do there for sure. But with extended minutes, he is showing himself to be the scorer most people thought he could be. Another reason to be optimistic for next season.
Matt and Mike Rogan will be impact players for us next year, hopefully along with Louis, Peyton, Birima, Anthony and maybe Brycen who could be the MAAC Player of the year next year!!

Any particular reason you left Jasper off the list of impact players for next year?
If we are counting on Bleechmore and Seek next year, it is going to be a long year. Both averaged 1 point per game at their previous School. I would not bring either of them back. We can do better. No sympathy in this new age.

I actually really appreciated the intensity that Bleechmore played with when his number was called. Yes, there are areas he needs to improve in (especially shot selection), but I see no reason why he couldn't do what AJR did. They seem to have similar athleticism, and Bleechmore's shot is probably marginally better.
yup, apparently I had a senior moment!! Jasper will be running the show, Luke, Joe and Mahmoud will also help.
Mamoud also has a chance to be a big contributor. He could play the 4. Coaches know better how good he is but he has looked good when i have seen him
I didn’t get to see Mahmoud play at all. Can you describe what his game is like that gave you a favorable impression? Is he a better outside shooter than Bleechmore? Does he have an extremely quick first step that allows him to get by the primary defender with the ability to finish strong plus good decision making to know when to dish off the drive?

I felt Mahmoud shows signs of being a decent outside shooter. I only saw him in two or three practices and warm-ups. Things are different when you speed up the game. He probably needs to work on this strength and rebounding. But I think he has potential to develop into a good ballplayer. I think the redshirt year was a good decision for him.
Regarding Bleechmore and Seck, I would simply point out how much so many players developed and improved their game during their time at Fairfield. Taj Benning and Caleb Fields significantly improved during their time as Stags and if we go back through time there are so many others Greg Francis, Pete DeBisschop, Tyler Nelson, Anthony Johnson, Darren Phillip, among many others that significantly improved their game. Of course there are some that won't improve, but its hard to say either player won't have an impact next season.
Of course you look to improve at every position through recruiting and I hope we do. We have scholarships available and I wouldn't be pushing current players out the door.

Why not reindeer? They would push Fairfield out the door if they could. All you do gooders who think either of these two will improve, one is a post grad who we owe nothing to and the other is a senior. Maybe you keep the senior to let him graduate, but Bleechmore, who is graduating in May, no way Jose! AS I stated earlier, If these guys play any minutes next year, Casey did not do his job recruiting. We need people who can rebound and defend. These two do neither.
