It was the way that this one was handled! We get it. The rules have changed and money rules the day. You get offered $100k like Supreme was by Georgetown you can blame them. I would probably take the money and potential Georgtown degree and run. This one does not sit well with me given the committment thru tough times and the shocking out of the blue announcement over X/Twitter hours prior to his teammates post season appearance. Zero respect and consideration for his former coaches and teammates...
Here is his prick head agent on the bottom right. They are all fing leaches IMHO.

Don't begrudge any player looking for different opportunities in today's basketball environment. Time to look forward to see who we recruit to fill the open spots
The powers that be have ruined college sports with this Portal and NIL ; it’s now nothing but a semi pro league with no loyalty to team and it’s about “me”. What Goodine , Leach , even Johns did is just an example of why people or fans and coaches are leaving g the sport
So if you were offered a better job making more money at a more prestigious company you wouldnt take it because you are too loyal to your current company? Universities are as ruthless and faceless as any corporation, you are nothing but a cost center regardless of what side of the balance sheet you are on. My generation (millennial) and those born after me have come to that realization. The antiquated ideal of working for RCA or GM for 40 years and retiring with a pension is LONG gone. Its the same mindset in college sports now. I dont particularly like it either but dont hate the player, hate the system. Bad mouthing a player for transferring and not being 'loyal' is very low brow
You hit the nail on the head when you said don't hate the player, hate the "system." I don't think there is one person out there who if in the same situation as one of these kids wouldn't try to do what's best for themselves and their family as they see it. Maybe sometimes things won't work out for the best and they may regret their choice. But that's life, and BTW it's THEIR choice and not us as fans. Therefore I myself hold no grudge toward Brycen, Jalen, JJJ or any other player who chooses to leave the program.

He works for LIFT which is run by former PC player Donnie McGrath
I have mixed feeling on this- It might be better tha AAU coaches/other hangers on An agent:headhunter theoretically finds and maximizes opportunities.
I very much disagree with all 3 guys blowing off the CBI - they should have been their for their teammates and coaches. One weekend would not hurt their transfer/NIL opportunities.
Both Leach and Goodine should have degrees by May.
Scholarships are renewed annually. Coaches generally get 5 year deals with generous buyouts if necessary.
There are a lot of considerations on all sides and they differ by player.
If Leach or Goodine can net 100-150k, they should take it. I’m not sure what An extra year at FU (post undergrad degree) does for them vs a grad year at a power 5.
We must not forget that Leach and Goodine completed their commitment to the university. That is they will complete their academic requirements and will graduate on time . If not for COVID there would be no further discussion about these two guys staying at FF for another year. I can’t fault anyone for taking advantage of opportunities they have earned and are presented to them . That said not playing in the final tournament with their teammates and not representing the school was a disgrace IMO. I think a lot less of both of them!

Does anyone have an idea how much these NIL deals are paying the players? Are mid-major players who move up really making $100-150K?!
If so, what are the "star" players at power conference schools making?

Right now there’s no transparency on NIL offers so it’s difficult to separate rumor from fact. There’s also been reports of players being told they’d be getting a certain amount of NIL money and it turned out they received significantly less than that. If the 100K for Supreme is accurate, he probably benefited from the fact Cooley needed an experienced big to have any possible chance in his first year at Georgetown until he could recruit Big East level players. Considering how few Big East level players Georgetown had last year, I think Cooley was probably pleased with Supreme’s play this past season.
I am very bummed about the Brycen news, but just like what happened with Supreme, these kids don't always make these decisions on their own. Family is a big influence into their lives and their choices and when they see others of their level getting paid, they want their kids to chase the short term money. Brycen is a good kids and I can assure you he will make the right choice for him. I hope Fairfield is still on the table but time will tell.

I understand everyone has to do what is right in their personal situation. I was more disappointed at the timing of the announcement and the fact that neither player made the trip to Florida. The season wasn't over, and I felt they left their teammates down. Its really too bad in that regard. While I would welcome either back, there has to be some disappointment from their peers that they didn't go to Florida.

That is a major gripe with me. These deals should be publicly reported in some manner.
I know there was talk on the Georgetown board of them having an NIL pool of several million for this upcoming season. You can read about the SEC ones and guesstimates.

Given the lack of prestige of the CBI - I'm hardly bothered. If these C-tournaments had more juice to them... like winners being guaranteed a spot in the following year's NIT and thus attracting a lot higher quality programs... I would feel a little differently about both.
I thought Perez quitting on ASU, before they even played their conference tournament, so he could go make a few more bucks in the Dominican League was waaaaaaay worse.
Does anyone know which schools Goodine has visited? Considering his 3 point % and that his first two schools are high majors, I’m surprised we’re hearing so little about the schools expressing interest in him or where he has visited.

I think he either, is about to or just visited UNLV.
The days of YORE are gone and these players are not student-athletes...they are now paid and move like people do in work settings. They could care less if they get a degree from X, Y or Z vis a vis money and visibility. It's not a value judgment as this is the world they live in now...so don't hate the player, hate the game as many of you said.
