Three days ago Jeff Goodman tweeted this:
That tweet makes it sound like there’s a certain day each month that an athlete receives his/her NIL payment. I have noticed that today Xavier’s Desmond Claude and Duke’s Sean Stewart have entered the portal. Both would’ve been starters on their respective teams for next season.
Does anyone know if what Goodman tweeted is accurate? Is there some standard day each month that an athlete receives his/her NIL payment and which day of the month that might be? I figured most players who were going to transfer had already entered the portal by this point, but Goodman’s tweet has me wondering if we might see another surge of undergrads portaling based on a final NIL payment for the semester.

You might be right about Stewart, but apparently none of us on this board can either confirm or refute the information in Goodman’s tweet —- that players are making sure they get their last NIL payment of the semester before entering the portal.

You know once big money like FedEx ($25M) regularly sponsors the athletes the abuses which always follows the money tree will become prevalent. It’s an “arms race” that mid-majors cannot effectively participate within.
