Last week the NCAA made changes to its transfer policy, the one which received the most attention was multiple time transfers are immediately eligible if they meet certain academic requirements. No more applying for waivers. Apparently getting little attention was this change — Student-athletes who plan to enroll as graduate students at their next school can enter the portal at any time during the academic year but must enter the portal prior to the conclusion of their respective sports' final transfer windows.www.ncaa.org/news/2024/4/17/media-center-division-i-council-approves-changes-to-transfer-rules.aspxLast offseason every coach had to worry about their players on their roster who already had graduated, might he transfer in the summer leaving the coach with a hole on his roster. It appears this change is effect immediately.

I guess it's a good thing.
I'd think the result would just be that every grad student is now automatically entering the portal. It's not like players were previously guaranteed scholarships if they graduated, but had a year of eligibility left. TBH - we're not far from entering the portal being the default for every player after every season.
