No surprise here with the Stags being picked somewhere in the middle of the pack. In fact I would call this ranking more fair then some of the others because this organization (Big Apple Buckets) probably has a much better knowledge of the MAAC then a lot of other people (and magazines) because they are constantly putting out information on the league throughout the year. However there is one constant theme here when you take all these polls together and that is that, at least at this time, it appears as though the Stags will be in a dogfight all year to stay out of the PIG round. Remember, under the new setup only the first five teams are exempt from the extra game. And obviously the odds get a lot harder to win the tournament if you have to play the extra game.

So the question is ..... what needs to happen for us to win the Regular Season and/or the MAAC Championship. Winning the MAAC Championship will be much easier than winning the Regular Season, due to our lack of experience at guard to start the season. I would say that our frontcourt (3, 4, 5) is good enough right now to win both. But this is what we need from our guards (Minumum Requirments:
- We need one of our guards to be "special"..... Like Desantis, Tony George, Terrance Todd or Needham.
- We need our other guard to be solid, a complete player, and play experienced. Since Jenkins and Grennan are the most experience, so they are the likely candidates.
- We need a lights out shooter. Steve Smith comes with that reputation, but need one of the guards to also be a shooter.
Until I see these pieces, 6th or 7th is a reasonable prediction..... but we are not that far away

... and Amadou picked for MAAC 2nd Team All Conference Amadou Sidibe, Fairfield, Soph. – This call is probably a year too early but Sidibe, the sophomore captain of the Stags posted the team’s best offensive and defensive rebounding rates last year. He’s probably not going to stuff the stat sheet with points, but when Fairfield develops weapons around him that include Malcolm Gilbert inside and the figure out their guard situation, Sidibe will be a dangerous asset. www.nycbuckets.com/2013/10/maac-all-conference-team/
