FYI: Starting tonight the #SuperStag contest! A fresh and innovative idea for Stag fans from Roy Brown. Hopefully those going to the UVA game tonight will "tweet a picture of themselves" at the game?
Fairfield University announced today the #SuperStag contest to reward the Stags greatest fans. The contest will have both a year-long component, with fans accumulating points, as well as reward packages at specified home games throughout the season.
The program tips-off in conjunction with tonight's men's basketball game in the Preseason NIT at Virginia. The first home game of the contest is Tuesday's women's basketball home opener versus Brown University at 7 p.m. in Alumni Hall.
“We have some of the most dedicated fans and we are excited to be able to reward them for that dedication,” said Associate Director of Athletics Roy Brown. “There is not only a season-long portion of the program, as well as various giveaways to fans in attendance at select home games games.”
Fans can participate by tweeting pictures of themselves at any Fairfield sporting event and utilizing the hashtag #SuperStag. Points will be accumulated for every event that fans attend and at the end of the 2012-13 academic year, the top three point getters for the year will receive Fairfield prize packs.
The season long portion of SuperStag is not constrained to home games. Fans that attend Stag road games or tournament appearances can also receive credit in SuperStag. At the end of the academic year the Stag fan with the most points will be named #SuperStag and win a Stag prize pack valued at a minimum of $250. Second and third prize will also be awarded for the yearlong competition.
Throughout the year individual games will also have a SuperStag component, with fans that are in attendance tweeting their seat location to win an in-game prize. These prizes will range from gift cards to food delivered to the fan in their seat.
To be eligible fans must have a twitter handle and use the hashtag SuperStag when entering. There is one entry per person per sporting event.
