I don't know what Grennan & Davis did to get left home, however, it's understandable if they are fighting back because of frustration. Per our website, he averaged 18 last year for a pretty decent prep team. How he can't get off the bench for us is beyond me. And BTW, I just read his bio on our website - who wrote this crap?:
Lincoln Davis was a standout student-athlete at Central Catholic High School where he helped the team post a 16-12 record in 2011-12. During that season, Davis averaged 19 points and 4.1 rebounds per game. He scored 20 or more points in 11 games which included two games of 30-plus points. The guard tallied 31 points in the championship game of the KSA tournament against Fairview but would later surpass that total with 33 points versus North Allegheny. He was also good with handling the ball during that campaign, posting 1.9 assists and 2.3 steals per game. He scored his 1000th career point in February of 2012, hitting the mark against North Catholic. Davis went to the New Hampton School for the 2012-13 academic year and played basketball. He helped the team advance to postseason and finished the year with a 18-point scoring average.
SJ should have left Chappell home to - he doesn't use him. I'm all for shortening the rotation but our guard's performances just don't warrant it. Even if it was just to show up Grennan & Davis, Chappell should have played a few tonight.
so are we in the running to be the first to reach 20.......losses that is?
In 45 years of watching Stag bball this is the worst.............and while we know that the Admin of the University does not care.......still we can raise our voices at this total disaster of a coach and his players........there are no silver linings here, folks.......this is pure terrible............I yearn for the days of Joey DeSantis, Mark Young, etc...............there has never been a team like this..........needs to change.............but who will change it??
This has to reflect on Gene and the administration too. They signed him to an albatross of a contract and they're not exactly knocking the cover off the ball in other areas.
does anyone really think that Gene Doris will do a darn thing here?? He has proved his ineptitude as a AD and the university has stood by and applauded for years and years. Have the Stags sports programs in their totality improved and "gone to the next level" as we are all fond to say? Absolutely not!!!!! Pretty much everything about Stags Sports from media coverage to the teams themselves have underachieved. The students are indifferent......why??? The administration is indifferent.....why? The teams seem uninspired.......why? Fairfield is not a place for passionate sports at this point in time. It is Fairfield County, the home of hedge fund guys and gals............a bedroom community to NYC..............very comfortable.........for GD, Fr Von Arx, etc..............yes, a good place to be.
Anybody who has watched this team play more than 5 times deserves recognition in the alumni magazine and possibly a halftime recognition in a year when we are good.
It would be nice to believe that we are just a few more games of experience away but I'm not seeing it.
We have tried so many lineup combinations it's silly. No matter who plays we are bad. It would be nice to think that the answer to every game is if we had just played(fill in the blank) we would be better off. We just are not good.
These last two games have really deflated my already low expectations.
We've been told to be patient with the young players but SJ isn't being patient - he is still actively recruiting kids plus we are already one scholarship over.
Why should we play any other guard, when SJ has KJ Rose? of course I am kidding---my satire is he will always play KJ no-matter how bad he plays--its his way--sorry Davis, Chappell ---we will let the other guards play alittle but not you--KJ is the man!!! he the guard of the future--really?
There are critics of our talent, but I generally think we have some players with talent.
With this in mind, is player turnover a good thing? I think it is bad sign. Reaching/searching for solutions, when the solutions are here. We just have to adapt/adjust to succeed.
Another games that we suffered with Poor Ballhandling. This time is was Rose really trying to do too much, and getting himself in traps or double-teams, and then making il advised passes or penetration. The worst part of it is was that the Turnovers led to easy baskets. Marcus's handle was also suspect. Rider had 22 points off turnovers. That was the ball game.
Malcolm did some nice things as far as blocks. Even though he only had 2, there were others that he got off of fouls..... not necessarily a bad thing. However the end result is that this was one of our worst defensive games on the interior
Barrow had a very good game, and we do have talent in a lot of areas, but we do NOT have talent in Ballhandling and Passing and that is affecting and actually negating a lot of the talent. I tried to find out at the game why Grennan and Davis were left back, but no specifics.
there are always 2 sides to every story. leaving 2 behind shows a splinter in the " one for all, all for one " theme. it is not war it is basketball, no one dies, but there is hand to hand combat. the united states marines leave no man behind.
