Bob I more or less agreed with you about wades playing time. I liked wade but felt he and need am played too much together. But you mAde the same point too many times, and are doing the same with rose. The posts get tiresome. I understand rose isn't the best point guard in the conference but who do we have that is better? Rather than running this developing player into the ground tell us who you would play instead of him? Maybe u could offer some stats to support your choice. That would be more interesting.......
Bob, you made your point. You think the other guards are better. Your entitled to your opinion. Why is it always negative about Rose? Give the young man a chance. Stop riding him. I'm sure he is aware of his shortcomings and is working hard to improve in those areas. His progress has been steady, not spectacular, but readily improving.
Anybody who actually watched the game saw that Rose was playing a very good game. And he had the kuhones to stay aggressive and try to win the game down the stretch.

Amen RF, amen.
Actually, this year 01041949 Bob has repeatedly stated JJ was the answer and heavily criticized Sidney for not playing him more minutes. Note that Sidney has been giving JJ many more minutes as of late.
But after the last few performances by JJ (including the last game performance of zero assists, six turnovers and five fouls), 01041949bob has quieted down about that lately.
And I agree, practical suggestions about who to play and why going forward are much more constructive and interesting.

This is not about who should be playing, as all have been given an opportunity. But the common theme is that we are a poor ballhandling team.... And when that happens, everything seems to fail. Inbounds, press, fast break, and the entire oFfense.
Is Jenkins ballhandling been worse than davis or chappell or Marsus. Its been about the same. Not very good. That is the first thing has to improve

I think it was Jack Nickolson in A Few Good Men who stated you can't handle the truth----You want to give Rose a pass like you did Wade fine with me---if Rose is the point guard of our future we are in big trouble---RF, I've suggested JJ,Davis, and Chappell and even playing with 1 guard moving Marcus to 2--but I see Stevie doing some good things so ride him some--but Rose is a poor FT Shooter and that has nothing to do with being young--he has to many downsides and it is frustrating to see SJ continue to play him---like he did Wade---demoralizing his others guards and causing them to leave the program--his progress is steady, he had a very good game? yes whoever said it we are entitled to all have opinions--and if you believe this nonsense he had a very good last game, he is improving etc..I do hope your right cause he is going to get the minutes from this inept coach and we might win if he does better--but I think its a pipe dream just like Wade was going to be better and the coach is going to get better---this is not personal about Rose like many of you tried to do with my comments about Wade--this is about their BB ABILITY and whether they are good for FU BB to get the minutes they are getting

Bob, the posters that said Rose had a good game at Rider are delusional. Nine turnovers is the only number you need to know to know if was a pretty poor effort. You have made many suggestion, but specifically who would you play? It'd be interesting to hear you rank Grennan, Rose, Jenkins, Chappel, Johnston and Davis in the order you would play them. I think Grennan has been given the biggest opportunity and he hasn't produced. I would probably go with:
1) Jenkins 2) Chappell 3) Johnston 4) Rose 5) Davis 6) Grennan
But honestly, I haven't seen enough of Davis or Chappell to know if they are ready to play so it is hard to rank them. Jenkins and Johnson bring the best scoring of the group, but could that duo effectively handle the press? That's yet to be seen. Ballhandling is the reason Sydney has been playing Rose. Rose's role is not to be a scorer., so Sydney isn't concerned about his percentages.....

You make some good points RF---my point guard is Davis/Jenkins and my 2 guard is Johnston/Chappell---these are the best 4 guards and if they had been getting the majority of minutes rather than Rose/Grennan we would be a much more competitive team in my view----start Davis-Johnston and bring in Jenkins-Chappell and see which ones have the hot hand as the game progresses----what do we have to lose? Rose/Grennan had their shot they did not produce--give the others a chance--SJ--we have 4 wins in 20plus games--wise up!!!

Well there have been calls to shorten the rotation, not by me but by others. I understand their reasoning but I think after the last game perhaps its time to rethink the shortening idea. At this point the season is over for all practical purposes. If I were SJ, I would take one last look at Chappel and Davis before the year ends. If he does not, you can bet one or both players aren't on the roster in September. I think that would be a shame.

RF--I think we agree--but I do not think SJ gives a rats ass--he is not to going to do it--ie give Davis,Chappell not another , simply a chance to see what they got--we already what Rose and Grennan have given us 0 --the other guards have played too little to have a good assessment of them
I called for a shorter rotation among the guards. If any of them are/were going to break through and "get it", it would be because they were playing and not looking over their shoulders. Davis & Chappell should get a couple of 30 minute games each to see what they can do. I'd like to see Davis get time at the 3. His best position might be the slashing along the base line. I wish the team had some late 80s video of Marvin Andrews of St Peters - that should be his model. I said in prior years that Nickerson would have excelled there also. With a third guard in Davis, you could play Marcus at the two for a bit.
Did we forget about the games we played in November and December? we already went down the Chappell Davis route. Go back and look at the game logs...they both had chances.
The last time we saw Chappell he had 2 min and 3 turnovers.
He had his best games against Patriot league teams. He is just not ready for the MAAC yet IMHO
Davis...I could see throwing him out there for one more game I guess. He has been given time in the past. Maybe he will be better this time.
This discussion is a little over the top. So, I guess everyone wants to create a revolving door and have FRESHMAN guards every year?
If you want to ruin a program, that's the formula.
The majority of these guys have bright futures ahead of them in the out years if they work and are motivated and we learn to run plays as a team to get them open. That is where the focus should be.
The Stags lost at Rider on Monday night but the Stag website still has yet to update the Men's Basketball Schedule page and the Current Record:
2/1/2014 * Canisius College Bridgeport, Conn. H L 58-84 2/3/2014 * Rider University Lawrenceville, N.J. A 7 pm 2/7/2014 * Monmouth University Bridgeport, Conn. H 7 PM ESPN3
Current Record Overall Pct. Conf. Pct. Streak Home Away Neutral 4 - 18 .182 1 - 10 .091 L4 3 - 7 1 - 9 0 - 2
Three days after the game has been played and it still hasn't been taken care of should be unacceptable to somebody. Somebody at some level needs to make sure that the Stag website is correct and that the Current Record actually is "current".
FYI: The Current Record is (4-19)(1-11) and the Stags lost the game 65-73 at Rider.
