And the Fairfield connection continues (at least Alumni Hall anyway) as the Prep's 7'1" Paschal Chukwu will be playing at PC for Ed Cooley next season.
The big guy will probably be a backup next season to a guy who is tremendous at blocking shots and playing defense for the Friars right now in Carson Desrossiers who will be a senior. After that I really believe he has a chance to be a difference maker for Ed. Time will tell. BTW speaking of Desrossiers, his connection to Fairfield is that he played high school ball at Central Catholic in Mass., the same school that Tyler Nelson is playing for right now.
I know it is hard to think about after this year, but this is good for Fairfield! More press for Ed, more press about where he came from!
Really? I haven't read one thing that mentions Fairfield. Maybe I missed something, but all I am reading about is the native son comes home and makes good, the 122lb. weight loss, and the bedroom fire that has the family living out of a hotel. Guess Fairfield didn't make the cut.

The Friars, a proud program with a rich tradition, were struggling to win and mired by some off-court issues. With the help of former Big East commissioner Mike Tranghese, Providence turned to Ed Cooley, a native of the city who yearned to return home after five seasons at Fairfield. In March 2011, when Father Shanley and Driscoll met with Cooley and his representatives in Driscoll's North Kingstown, R.I., home, the longtime Providence leaders knew they had found their man. They didn't interview anyone else. Eleven days after dismissing Davis, the Friars announced Cooley as the 15th coach in their history.....
After graduating in 1994, Cooley spent the next 12 seasons as an assistant, the final nine at Boston College under Al Skinner. Cooley and Skinner are still close and spoke before Saturday night's game. In April 2006, Cooley accepted his first head coaching job at Fairfield, a Division I team in Connecticut. Under Cooley, the Stags improved in each of his five seasons, culminating with a school-record 25 victories and an NIT berth in 2011.....
I wasn't just referring to media press. I also mean people talking to each other about Providence and asking about Ed's history etc and Fairfield coming up in conversation.
Of course, this type of "talk" or "press" does not directly help Fairfield land a big recruit next year, but we want anything and everything associated with Fairfield Basketball to do well because it just raises the bar. It helps build a positive story.
