I have not followed the Fciac in many years, but I remember that the league was split into an east and west division for Track. Certain schools were in each division and there were East and West Divisional championships at a certain time. These were followed by The Fciac Championships the next week and it was these that counted. It sounds like bball is similar. I would not be too excited about someone who was recognized on the division level, but not on the county level.
I have no information but I just have a sense that we have a shot at Macari. He can score and would be a huge get for us at 2G.
As for the Darien kid, nothing wrong with taking a chance on kid with some skills at that size. If he signs, I would guess that he or Lakoju would prep a year then join the team with Amadou and Malcolm as seniors.
Finally, on the FCIAC, players from any of the three Bridgeport public schools are the real deal. They may not go D1 because they just don't qualify. St. Joe's almost always fields an excellent team and good players can be found among the suburban schools. Central showed us it had the talent to beat Prep and Pascal and the other college prospects on that undefeated team. It's a good league.
79, there already is a second team all-FCIAC team. From the article:
Second Team Kenny Wright, Stamford C.J. White, Danbury Eric Houska, Wilton Jonny Dzurenda, St. Joseph Matt Staubi, Darien Marcus Blackwell, Central Matt Turner, Trumbull Patrick Racy, Ridgefield
Sorry 76...yes the equivalent of third team. My experience had been with baseball, which at least a few years ago went 1st, division and honorable mention.
Chima Azuonwu is listed as a 2014 recruit right now, but he is targetted to go to Prep school and will probably end up being a 2015 recruit. His scouting report is that he is Big and needs more time to develop. He is not somebody we need right now, but as a 2015 recruit he should get better.

Well put JS. There is no way the Stags are going to sign him for this year. I believe Chima is similar to Lakoju in many ways, particularly in build and strength, but like Ami he is raw. And although I have not really seen him play I think from what I have heard, he is not as good as Ami right now. BTW if I am not mistaken he was a teammate of Kevin Degnan this past summer in AAU ball (as was the Darien point guard Matt Staubi).
Really don't want to get into the talent level dispute but if a center going to Dartmouth is the high end of the ceiling of this league then it is not impressive. I live in NJ and there are leagues where there are multiple highschools that each have players going to BCS level teams.
In a year where we need a home run to get us going again this player is not going to cut it.
Any update on Sammis Reyes? He was a player who visited and I was high on due to his motor.
Reyes still shows up on the verbal commit list. Seems like a lot of competition with many decent programs, but you're right BB, he looks like someone who might be a difference maker. In regards to the FCIAC, yes this isn't Jersey and there probably aren't any BCS level players in the league right now. However there is indeed quite a few that might be considered future mid-majors, and not all of them are seniors. For instance St. Joes's has a junior (transferred from Ohio this past year) who should get a lot of recruitment. Trumbull has an outstanding sophomore who turned some heads this season. Norwalk has a couple of big players who will have one more year, and one of them, 6-9 PF Steven Enoch is on our list right now. As far as unsigned seniors, one of them who really had a great year is CJ Byrd of Greenwich, a 6-2 guard. Haven't heard anything about his recruitment, but many people thought he should have been POY in league over Ancrum of Central, who BTW is one of the speediest players from end to end that I have ever seen. And there are a plethora of others in the fringe area between D-1 and D-2.
