Remember this kid. Verbal Commits says we have offered. We offered him way back when and I believe he even verballed us for a day. Ended up at DePaul but transcript issues sent him to JUCO. He's a 3-star recruit, a scoring guard.
Verbalcommits is also showing an offer to Chima Azuonwu (6'10" center, class of '14 Darien, CT High School). Makes me wonder if something is going on with Malcolm or Amadou, since we've already got a LOI from Ami Lakoju (6'9" player from St. Luke's class of '14). Why would we be offering Chima if we already have 3 guys at the center position? Don't know about Ami but I know I don't want Malcolm or Amadou shooting mid-range jumpers from what I've seen of their playing style. Is SJ hoping to have 20 fouls available to use from the center position next season?
So, in 4 years Macari has completed 2 years at a junior college? Sounds like our academic counselors will have their work cut out for them should Macari become a Stag.

And one who got away… This past season, Majok Majok averaged a double-double for Ball State. Think we could have used some of those skills this past year?

Well yeah of course we could have. But then again, look at the record of Ball State. 5-25, worse then the Stags! That's why it's not only important to get good talent, but also talent that meshes and works together as a unit. Hopefully when all is said and done this year as far as putting the pieces together, the basic foundation will be in place to help the program get back to respectability quickly.

Why isn't the foundation already in place?
In a few days, Siena will begin playing in the CBI championship series against Fresno State. Siena went from 4-14 in the MAAC in '12-'13 under Mitch to 11-9 this season under Patsos --- and they were losing their summer exhibition games in Canada last summer to teams that Sacred Heart was beating. And yet we're being asked to believe that a coach needs more than 3 years to put together a good team?

I said "hopefully" 76. Really to be fair, the first two years were played out with mostly experienced players left over from Cooley. Obviously some disappointments there. But 22 and 19 wins while not championship caliber, certainly were fairly successful, especially when compared to many Stag teams in the past. This past year was bad, but I don't care who you are, unless you are a high major (like Kentucky, Kansas, etc.), you are asking for trouble by running out a team composed of only one upperclassman. Sydney perhaps shouldn't have done that, but he did. Now he has to get himself out of a hole. Next season will obviously be pressure packed, but at least we should at least give him that chance I would think.
That says it all, but what will be considered enough progress? Another 3 wins? .500 ball? We seem to tolerate mediocrity more than most schools if you look at our history.

God help us. Chima!? He is ranked as the 57th best player in CT.
Lets pray Macari Brooks is still interested in the the Stags. Desperate times call for desperate measures.... we have to go JUCO
Chima did make the 2014 all-FCIAC divisional team. Can someone familiar with the FCIAC explain what the divisional team is. In the article, I see the usual 1st team and second team all league (Chima didn't make either of those) but then there's a divisional team, plus a defensive team and some honorable mentions. What is the divisional team? What distinguishes the divisional team from the all league teams and the honorable mentions?

Brokenboat wrote ----- Sounds like honorable mention in a talent weak pool. in response to what the FCIAC all-divisional team is.
But didn't Bridgeport Central beat Fairfield Prep for the large school CT state championship and I see where the center for Greenwich is going to Dartmouth (true not a national power, but still a D1 school). And aren't all the Bridgeport schools in the FCIAC so don't the other schools besides Central have some talented players. So is the FCIAC actually a talent weak pool? There are other honorable mention sections for the FCIAC. So, is the all-divisional team like a high honorable mention squad or some other entity?

Really don't want to get into the talent level dispute but if a center going to Dartmouth is the high end of the ceiling of this league then it is not impressive. I live in NJ and there are leagues where there are multiple highschools that each have players going to BCS level teams.
In a year where we need a home run to get us going again this player is not going to cut it.
Any update on Sammis Reyes? He was a player who visited and I was high on due to his motor.
