I have to wonder if freshman Scoochie Smith regrets having picked Dayton instead of Fairfield from the 20 or so scholarship offers he received. sports.yahoo.com/ncaa/basketball/recruiting/player-Dayshon-Smith-139279To view all the schools which offered Scoochie, use the link and then hit the Show All option available under Dayton in the college choices section directly beneath his picture. Dayton's coach likes to use his bench liberally and Smith averaged close to 18 minutes a game as a freshman this season.

Great, another Connecticut kid doing well elsewhere. Actually he is a NYC kid who went to prep school in Conn. But this was a case where the Stags were shooting higher than normal as his rating was certainly above the standard MAAC (2.0*) player standard. I imagine getting 17 minutes a game as a freshman and some national recognition on TV as the Flyers continue to advance in the NCAA Tornament means there are no regrets at this time.

Saw this on facebook so I'm not 100% certain of its' veracity: On ESPN’s Tournament Challenge only 8 of 11 million brackets had all Elite Eight teams correct. I would imagine the trio of Dayton, Kentucky, and UConn would go a long way towards explaining that result. Also, Dayton's run has given the A-10 an edge over the Big East in the conference breakdown of the NCAAs up to this point: Here's how the conferences have fared so far... SEC (3 teams in): 9-1 (Florida, Kentucky remain) Big Ten (6): 9-3 (Michigan, Michigan State, Wisconsin) American (4): 6-3 (Connecticut) Pac 12 (6): 8-5 (Arizona) ACC (6): 6-6 Mountain West (2): 2-2 Big 12 (7): 6-7 Atlantic 10 (6): 4-5 (Dayton) Big East (4): 2-4 West Coast (2): 1-2 www.cbssports.com/collegebasketball/eye-on-college-basketball/24505888/ncaa-tournament-records-by-conference
