Don't hear the uproar any more about the Ogre Sidney after looking at this list and the schools on it. We have a mild case of transferitis compared to many schools. Get serious about this business, it happens all the time. Advance and improve or move over. No gain without pain. You people know who you are, but you will be the biggest moaners if we do not significantly improve next year. Sydney is just doing his job. How well he does it, remains to be seen.
One of my concerns is that transfers are always a big gamble. I heard that Grennan had the potential to be a bad apple before he even arrived and the fact I heard that but he was still welcome worries me. Malcolm Gilbert is a great character guy and improving on the court but I just hope we get guys who are the right fit. It seems Lincoln Davis was another one who was troublesome. Can't have that.

Pushing kids out the door should not be a goal for the program. It is occasionally necessary. It is only necessary when you don't make the right decisions up front. Bad decisions will be made and kids will need to move on. My issue isn't' that Sydney is doing what he feels needs to be done now, my issue is we brought in 5 guys at the 1, 2 and 3 and of those 5 at least 4 have been mentioned as transfer candidates, and three look sure to depart. That kind of transferring should not be necessary, and it points to a coach that can't access talent. This was a wasted year if we don't come out of it with two players that have developed enough to contribute at guard. I don't see any circumstance that we having two returning players getting the bulk of the guard minutes. The issue isn't that players are transferring, its that it is necessary for players to transfer.

Glad you are happy with Syd. I'm one of those "people". He has done a poor job managing this program...
I'm not happy with our record and performance this year. Don't put words into what context you assume or fit your perspective. Ever play baseball TMaac? No one strikes out with one strike. I'm willing to give two!
Sydney deserves a strike for not being able to restock the guard position this past year, getting only 1 real starter in KJ. However, I felt he was able to restock the frontcourt 2 years ago with 2 starters in Marcus and Amadou. I would not call that a Strike 2, as Marcus will be an All MAAC player, and Sidibe could be before their career is done.
But if you want to call something a wasted year ......was 3 years ago which was a complete ZERO. Kevin Thomas, Keegan Hyland, Adam Jones, Vince VanNes. Those were not Sydney's recruits, but this ZERO impact class had a major negative impact on the last 2 years. Sydney should have brought in JUCOs to correct the problem, and did not. But he is addressing the problem and upgrading the talent level.
But the measure of Sydney's recruiting and success will be if he can bring in that "Special" Guard who can be All MAAC.

Joe, this is old news. I'll give you that year's recruits was a wasted year. However, Syd had 3 years to address it and the quality of his players are not championship caliber. You are high on Marcus, I am not. He's soft. He is a good role player, not a stud. Hope Sydney can find that "special" player because without one, he will be without a job...

Tmaac, maybe Marcus is "soft" in his style of play, but as a sophomore who averges 14 PPG, over 35% from 3, and 5 rebounds a game, I would think you would have to say he is more than just a role player, wouldn't you think? So when you evaluate the recruits Sydney has brought in, to me he is the beacon of the group who indeed can be someone who can be relied upon to do great things in the next two years. And although he had a poor start to this past season, Amadou improved near the end and therefore should be one of the better players in the league starting next year. But where you, me and JS agree I think is that the guard situation has been totally mishandled and indeed is the reason things fell apart in 2013-14. Therefore we all agree he must immediately find that "special" player or two (at a guard position) who can make a big difference in how the team performs. If he is successful that would make the other players on the team (such as Marcus and Amadou) even more effective in their performance. Obviously a big question mark and the jury is still out, but the whole point of this idea of the roster turnover is that Sydney is trying very hard to correct the recent mistakes.
