I read this story a week or so ago. My initial thoughts were,"This guy can STILL recruit and get some quality players." It occurred to me as I glanced over this thread that SJ has not been able to get the quality recruit, transfer or fifth year player in his tenure. The result is a program searching for an identity and fighting with bottom tier programs over guys still available.
I truly hope the program is righted this year but the incoming players remind me of this year's NE Patriots draft - no one is being brought in as a starter, only as back ups. And with a team coming off the year we did, there should be plenty of new faces in the starting lineup for the opening tap in the fall.

Sun, I agree that we will have some new faces in our Line-up, but not necessarily as starters. Demarcus Threatt was certainly recuited to be a starter, that is why we went the JUCO route. The expectations are high and should be high for him, and he should be ready to play from day 1. The difference this year is our Frosh will have to beat out experienced players..... last year our Newcomers had to play out of need. But, I see each of our Frosh having a chance to beat out an experienced player.
Segura vs Rose Nelson vs Threatt, StevieJ, Chappell Degnan vs Coleman, Malcolm, Kirkland
But beside being starters the exciting thing about this recuiting class is that we are bringing in 2 highly skilled, and high Basketball IQ players in Degnan and Nelson. I expect them to contribute right of way with their passing and decision making on the court. Something this team team desparately needs.
The Biggest Question's if we have an All-MAAC guard on the Roster...... like a Needham, Han, Todd
...Lawrence decided to transfer after he learned his father, Bobby Lawrence, had been battling cancer for much of the past year. He plans to file a hardship waiver to gain eligibility immediately...
Manhattan looking to have Lawrence eligible for upcoming season. He seems to be injury prone; in the article it mentions he missed games last year with a toe injury and only played in 11 games as a high school senior due to an injured wrist.
Lawrence comes with less freshman impact than Ashton Pankey, but more than Malcolm Gilbert. But I think Lawrence was rater higher than both in HS. It will be interesting to see finishes their career rated higher.
Lawrence better hope he gets a waiver and is eligible for the '14-'15 season because Masiello now has completed the requirements for his undergrad degree which he'll receive in August.
It will be interesting to see if Masiello is still going to be considered a hot high major coaching option should Manhattan have another good season.
• Manhattan's non-conference schedule next season is loaded. The Jaspers play at Pittsburgh, Florida State and UMass and have home games against Harvard and George Mason. Steve Masiello's squad will also play neutral site games versus Fordham (Barclays Center) and Rutgers (Madison Square Garden). That's seven games against higher level opponents for a mid-major program that lost its top three players -- Mike Alvarado, George Beamon, and Rhamel Brown -- from last season's team that went to the NCAA Tournament and nearly beat Louisville in the Round of 64.
