Kevin is listed as slated to perform in the Frankie Williams Charity Classic All Star game this coming Thurs, May 29th at 8:PM. Game features some of the best talent in the NY, NJ and Conn area. Interesting that among the others who might be there is Ami Lakoju, our own former recruit who will no longer be coming to Fairfield. Info, google "Frankie Williams Charity Basketball Classic."
From the article: ...For complete roster lineups or additional information on how to support this event, please go the host program, Frenji Sports, website at www.frenji.com...
...Some of the players committed to playing in FWCC 2014 are Isaiah Whitehead (Lincoln/ Seton Hall), Khadeen Carrington (Bishop Loughlin/ Seton Hall), Eric Paschall (Dobbs Ferry/STM/ Fordham), Kevin Degnan (Pearl River/ Fairfield), Shavar Newkirk (Cardinal Hayes/ St. Joe's), Terry Larrier (Phelps School/ VCU), Angel Delgado (Patrick School/ Seton Hall), Donovan Mitchell (Brewster Academy/ Top 100 Class of 2015), Matt Ryan (Iona Prep/ Top 100 Class of 2015), Adonis DeLaRosa (Christ The King/ St. John's), Rawle Alkins (Christ The King/ Top 25 Class of 2016)...
Looks like Degnan is going to be coached by former Manhattan coach Bobby Gonzalez in the game:

I'm a little confused about the address of the Charles D, Young Community Center. I have seen it listed as being in Greenburgh, NY on one site and White Plains on another. Is this one and the same (maybe like a Southport-Fairfield connection)? Also, anybody know the capacity size of the gym?

Some nice competition for Degnan. From a talent level, he reminds me of Greg Nero, even though their style of play is completely opposite. Nero more physical and stronger and Degnan more skillfull. Both come from a similar part of NY.
Saw first half of game last night. KD played with the top group with some truly elite players. Not the kind of game where the ball moved at all and he had few chances to do much. You could see though that he is smooth around the basket -- a nice move in traffic and a behind the back pass that went awry. And, based on warm-ups, he has deep range. He did remind my buddy of Nero but seems much more of a stretch player. He has good size. I would be very surprised if he doesn't become very good for us.

Ghost, no Ami. 79, you're right, the ball never moved. This is one of those All Star games where unfortunately there is really no coaching, no teamwork, and as a result all you get is a lot of spectacular one on one play with shooting and showtime dunks being the norm as the four other players stand around and watch. Not the best situation for Kevin to get to show much of what he can do. However he did get a couple of buckets on a dunk and a layup (I only saw the first three quarters), plus he at least competed on defense (most didn't) by blocking a shot and also stopping a fastbreak by himself. Good comparison to Nero as far as being an effective player with more diversification to his game. Hopefully he will have better luck healthwise than Greg did. I agee, he should have a good career.
