Does many things well as a combo guard (shoot, ballhandle, pass, etc.). Prep had a balanced attack this past year in scoring (around 4 kids including Nolan averaged in the 10-12 PPG aprox. range). With a couple of important people moving on (including Chukwu) I'm sure Thomas will be asked to carry more of a scoring load this coming season as the true "lead" guard. But besides being an offensive threat what I really like about him is that he is an in your face defender who is tough as nails and won't back down from anyone. He always plays with a high amount of passion and intensity, which when you think about it was something that was lacking a bit in the makeup of this past year's Stag team. This would be exciting news if this kid was from California, Florida or Texas, etc., but the fact that he is local right here in Fairfield makes it all that much better!

Article now up in NERR. Interesting though that in the article it does say that Nolan probably will redshirt the initial year. This is okay and would make perfect sense if (big if) the Stags get the expected production from the new guards that will be on board this coming year. Therefore with Threatt being only eligible for two years Thomas could move right in as a replacement for him starting in 2016-17.

JS, great picture you have found of Nolan, and certainly it illustrates his "passion" for the game. BTW, standing next to him is another player who will probably get heavy D-1 attention in the next 2-3 years in Ryan Murphy, but unfortunately for local fans it will no longer be as a member of the Fairfield Prep team as he is transferring to Wilbraham and Monson next year and will probably reclassify to being a 2017 graduate. He was a sophomore this past season but unfortunately sat out most of the year with an injury.

Knowing that he will redshirt his first year, would give him 5 years of scholarship money if he was interested in completing his Masters...... something he might have been looking for. But I do agree that if we need him a year earlier, he should play in 2015. The roster will look something like this during his first year of eligibility
PG -KJ Rose SR PG - Jerome Segura JR PG- Jared Harper JR
2G- Tyler Nelson JR 2G - Thomas Nolan FR
3G/SF - Doug Chappell SR
PF - Kevin Degnan JR PF - Steve Smith SR
With both Nelson and Nolan being about 6-3, it would be nice if one of them could get bigger and stronger (6-4 1/2) so they could be a full time 3G/SF. Nelson certainly has the long arms. Here is the link to the NERR story.
If Sean Grennan is still on the team. there would be no room for Nolan in 2015 anyway, as things stand, right?
If Nolan redshirts his 1st year (2015-16), then he would still be taking up a scholarship…… and there will be room for him.
As far as Grennan goes, what we basically know is this
- He has not been on the team since Jan2013 - He is still on a basketball Scholarship until June 30th - He did not transfer to another school, and he did not graduate - So expectations are that he will be at Fairfield next year - If he is at Fairfield in 2014-15, he will be on some type of scholarship for that year…..either Academic or Basketball. I think that’s the $20,000 Question.
I do not think that the Grennan situation affects Thomas Nolan in 2015-16. In prior years, players under Academic Scholarships ….. Leroy Robertson, Jermaine Clark, Dan Galvanoni, Vince Van Nes, and maybe Shane Miller

I wish we had better vision into the scholarship situation, but I am Fairly confident that SJ can count to 13 so I am hopeful that the Princeton grad has the scholarship matter under control.
