Khadidiatou ‘Dija’ Diouf, a 6-3 center formerly of IUPUI (Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis) and Lake Forest Academy has transferred into the women’s basketball program, the team announced. Diouf is originally from Dakar, Senegal before moving to Illinois and playing for Lake Forest Academy where she averaged 12 points and nine rebounds per game in her junior season. Diouf spent this past season with the IUPUI Jaguars where she did not appear in a game. Diouf was a three-sport athlete for Lake Forest Academy in Illinois where she also played volleyball and ran track. In basketball, Diouf earned a spot in the Lake County Senior Shootout All-Star game and was named to the Illinois AAU Girls Basketball All-State team. "We are very pleased to have Dija join our program," Head Coach Joe Frager said. "She had a good visit with us last year and we felt she had great potential as a player." "She adds length, athleticism, and scoring ability to our team for the future," Coach Frager said. "Dija is a great, young woman, and we're pleased that she's now a Stag."
Diouf will be eligible to play for Fairfield next season. http://instagram.com/p/zP7qxHC8KV

A big get for Joe Frager and Stag Women's Basketball. 6''3" and she sounds like a great person: Diouf’s goal is to play college basketball, but her ambition does not end with hoops. She aspires to go to medical school, and one of her dreams is to return to Senegal and open an orphanage...“So many children are suffering and I would love to help them,” she said.highschoolcubenews.com/2014/08/06/khadidiatou-diouf-starting-her-journey-at-lake-forest-academy/Next year's team will have the most height over 6' up front in years and probably one of the tallest Stag teams ever: Khadidiatou Diouf - C 6-3 Samantha Cooper F 6-2 Helena Orts F 6-2 Casey Smith F 6-2 . Kristine Miller F 6-1 Kelsey Carey F 6-0 Kristin Schatzlein G 6-0

I would imagine next season means the second semester, unless she gets a waiver. Either way, the Stags are set up front for the next few years.

Definitely set upfront. I would rather have a good point guard transfer. He must think that one of the incoming freshmen will run the point? If they are of Piña calibre, that would be great.

Saw her on the bench last game. Good size. If she is truly a shot blocker, that is huge in Women's hoops.

From the MIRROR: ....However, during her time with the IUPUI Jaguars, Diouf did not receive any playing time. Now at Fairfield, Diouf hopes that she will be able to get back to the court that she loves most. For the remainder of this season, Diouf will have to sit out due to National Collegiate Athletic Association transfer regulations, but she is already looking forward to her playing time next season.
“It is really hard sitting out as a player because I’ve always want to get out there and play,” said Diouf, “but I’m taking it as a positive and working on my game and pushing my teammates on the court so that I can play my best and contribute to the team next season.”
Already adjusted to the team, Diouf is excited about her career with the Stags. She added that her teammates have welcomed her extremely well, despite transferring in the middle of the season.
“The coaches have been phenomenal, I haven’t felt homesick or left out at all,” said Diouf. “I’m really happy that even though I came at a random time in the middle of the season, they’ve really welcomed me.”
Diouf will be expected to bring a lot of talent to the court next season. The three-season athlete in high school has skill in a number of different areas that will make her a threat to competitors, but for now she will learn the game of the current team, to better her play.fairfieldmirror.com/sports/womens-basketball-welcomes-dija-diouf/
