From the Times Union's MAAC Tournament Preview: Fairfield• Record: 14-15 (13-7) • Coach: Joe Frager, 8th season, 155-98 (.612) • Key player: Casey Smith (12.2 ppg, 4.7 rpg) • Why they'll win: Fairfield has one of the top defenses in the conference. The Stags' season included a masterful performance in mid-February, when they held Manhattan to 26 points. That total tied the lowest mark ever allowed by a Fairfield club in 33 Division I seasons. Smith, a sophomore, leads the way, as she is among the league leaders in scoring and field-goal percentage. • Why they won't: The Stags started the year 2-10, and their offense isn't very dynamic; they are among the lowest scoring teams in the conference. Fairfield also doesn't rebound the ball well, even though Smith and Kristin Schatzlein both stand taller than 6-foot. • Did you know: Frager is the first coach in MAAC history to post a winning conference record in his first eight seasons, something not even the great Marist coach, Brian Giorgis, can say. Frager has guided his club to four national postseason appearances in the past five years, and yet he never has been MAAC Coach of the Year. www.timesunion.com/news/article/MAAC-Tournament-women-s-capsules-6114904.php

Sloppy article. No mention of playing the 8th toughest non conference schedule in the country. The only player in Fairfield's starting 5 who ISN'T 6' or better is DaCruz.
