No. 3 Siena College will complete their season and move on to face No. 2 Louisiana-Lafayette (22-12) on Sunday at 5pm CT in the championship round the Women’s Basketball invitational (WBI) at Earl K. Long Gym in Lafayette, La.
The Saints will make league history on Sunday as the first MAAC women's basketball team to win three national postseason tournament games in one season and compete in a postseason championship. East region number three seed Siena (22-12) defeated fourth seeded Mercer 65-54 in the WBI Semifinals to cement their spot in the championship game, while also previously defeating Stony Brook 53-46 and Xavier 69-49.
Siena can become just the second MAAC basketball team, men's or women's, in conference history to be crowned with a national postseason tournament championship. Last season the Siena men's basketball team won the College Basketball Invitational (CBI).

LAFAYETTE, LA. - Ida Krogh's desperation 23-foot game-winning three-point attempt at the buzzer clanged off the back of the iron as Siena Women's Basketball came up just short in the Women's Basketball Invitational Championship Game in a 52-50 loss at Louisiana. Siena's storybook season concludes with a final record of 22-13 as the Saints' finished with a 13-win improvement from last season, tied for the second best nationally.
"We have nothing to be ashamed of," said head coach Ali Jaques. "It's really tough. We'll be back next year and we'll be fun to watch"....
