Interesting but it will probably make the next MAAC presidents meeting a little awkward between President Lahey and Fr. von Arx:
After little to no cooperation from Quinnipiac University officials regarding issues caused by students living in residential neighborhoods, it’s time to go higher than its president, state House Speaker Brendan Sharkey told a group of about 100 residents Monday night at a West Woods Neighborhood Association meeting......
In conversations with other private school leaders, it’s clear they, too, are fed up with the Quinnipiac president, Sharkey said. “I’ve had a lot of conversations with the heads of colleges like Fairfield University and others, and it’s very clear that every other private college within the state is furious,” Sharkey said. “John Lahey is a pariah to every other college in the state.”
Sharkey said he’s known Fairfield University President Rev. Jeffrey P. von Arx since their days at Georgetown University, and von Arx “made it clear that it is unanimous with all the other colleges in the state that the notion of acquiring private homes (for student housing) is unacceptable,” he said. “They agree that every university has a responsibility to have housing to place for every student on campus, and not in a residential neighborhood. Quinnipiac’s behavior and attitude toward housing for undergraduate students is completely out of sync.”

Yikes. Hardly presidential. The Board of Trustees, alumni and benefactors can't be pleased with that type of leadership and judgment. Definitely not Dean Vernon Wormer! Dr. Lahey had no option other than apologizing for his actions.
