Great double header........ Bisacca and Bridgeport. Great idea and a great combo. Lots of history in those 2. Zach Dayton is coming up with some really good ideas and changing things up.
Yeah Bridgeport, close your eyes, look down, perhaps you can see Mike Branch being carried off the court after an emotional victory over the Purple Knights!
Zach Dayton is coming up with some really good ideas and changing things up....
Let's hope that the University and the Athletics administration lets Zach continue to be creative and innovative. Roy had good ideas too but when he tried to implement them there were budget issues, budget cuts and restraints.
For those younger (or less old) Stag alumni and fans, George Bisacca was head basketball coach at Fairfield and his daughter Beth Bisacca '76 is a graduate of the University.:
George Bisacca has served as the legal counsel for the NIT since 1976. Bisacca played basketball at Georgetown University and is a graduate of both its college and law school. He coached on the high school level for eight years and as head coach in Division I for 10 years (1958-1968) at Fairfield, where he led the Stags to a 151-80 record. During his tenure Bisacca led Fairfield to the Tri-State League championship and three straight NCAA College Division II Tournaments from 1960 through 1962. He then elevated the program to NCAA DI status.
In 1967-68, his 10th and final season as a college coach, his Stags faced the nation’s No. 1 team, Houston (led by future Hall-of-Famer Elvin Hayes), defeated Niagara (led by another future Hall-of Famer Calvin Murphy) before a capacity crowd in the old New Haven Arena and lost to undefeated St. Bonaventure (led by yet another future Hall-of-Famer Bob Lanier) in overtime. He also served as a head coach in the top division of the Italian Professional League at Bologna and Pesaro as well as a general manager in the same league.
A well-known attorney in the field of sports law, Bisacca has represented many prominent interests in collegiate sports, including major conferences, individual colleges and student-athletes. He is also well known in international basketball circles, having represented European federation, league and team interests for many years. In addition to his legal duties, Bisacca has served as assistant coach of the NIT All Star Teams.
