This is why I continue to believe it is a strategic blunder to continue to associate Fairfield with the financially and academically weak regional schools of the MAAC. I suspect this type of announcement will become commonplace in the MAAC. The administration may feel the MAAC is the correct place to be athletically. However, I believe it is the wrong place to be academically. There was a time when Fairfield was associated with Patriot League schools. Branding ourselves as a MAAC school will continue to have a negative impact on the school's reputation. Rider University slashing 13 majors, laying off professors www.nj.com/education/2015/10/rider_university_slashing_13_majors_laying_off_pro.htmlFacing a potentially crippling budget crisis, Rider University will slash 13 majors and one minor and eliminate more than 20 jobs, including 14-full-time faculty members, the school announced today.
