The Stags (3-2)(0-1) host Marist (0-7)(0-0) on Sunday at 2:00 pm in Alumni Hall. Marist hosts Quinnipiac (4-2)(0-0) tonight in Poughkeepsie.
So far this season in Alumni Hall, the Stags have averaged only 207 fans and according to the Box Scores had 272 for LaSalle, 136 for Hofstra and 213 last night against Iona. On Sunday there is the annual Alumni Advent Mass and Reception. The Mass is in the Egan Chapel and the Reception with the opportunity to meet Santa Claus is across from Alumni Hall in the Alumni House. This is the perfect opportunity to engage our fellow Stag alumni and their families in the area with Stag Women's Basketball. However, there is no cross promotion between Athletics and AR for this event. How difficult would it have been to include "Join Santa and Lucas the Stag afterwards in Alumni Hall"? on the AR website or any mailings to the Fairfield County Alumni Association? In addition, AR has the ongoing Teddy Bears for Love Campaign and anyone donating a Teddy Bear should get a FREE ticket to the game. AH is the perfect drop off place for more teddy bears. Anyone at the Alumni Reception with Santa could also receive a FREE ticket from Santa to the game. Santa and Lucas could also be in the lobby of AH posing for more pictures with the kids and families. Also a perfect opportunity for a meet and greet autograph session with the team after the game but more importantly to connect or reconnect Stag alumni and their families with Stag Women's Basketball.
FREE parking, FREE tickets, FREE candy canes, Santa Claus, Lucas the Stag and meet the team BUT NO PROMOTION?
The University set up the Lil' Stags Club ($10.00 membership) and this Sunday would be a great promotion opportunity to get more of those Lil' Stags into AH to meet Santa as he will already be across the street at the Alumni Reception.
The University earlier in the Fall also had students take selfies with a cardboard cutout of the Pope but why not offer a picture with Santa and Lucas (he already looks like a reindeer), FREE hot chocolate and FREE candy canes in AH on Sunday. Put a Christmas Tree in the lobby of AH and make it not like every other game. Make it an event, make it different, make it fun but do SOMETHING.
The "comming soon" Promotion Schedule that never came was eventually removed from the Stag website this Fall. Are there any more promotions or is the University hoping attendance will magically increase in AH and the WBA without help? Sunday in AH after the Advent Mass and Reception is an ideal family friendly atmosphere and an opportunity to reach more alumni fans but it looks like it will be another missed opportunity.
