Fairfield will celebrate their annual
Kids’ Day Out, an initiative by the MAAC and other conferences to get kids from the local school systems to come enjoy college basketball games. Over 550 kids from the area schools including: Bryant School, Read School, Classical Studies Magnet Academy, High Horizons Magnet School, and Jennings Elementary School will be in attendance today. Also every fan can enjoy today’s game FREE of charge.
THE JASPER SCOUTING REPORT: One of the most improved teams in the MAAC, Manhattan comes into the game with a (5-7)(2-1) record but are led by some very young talent. Amani Tatum, a transfer from James Madison, has emerged as one of the best point guards in the MAAC in her first season in the league. She currently leads the team in PPG (12.3), assists (33), and steals (37). Sophomore Kayla Grimme is the force in the middle with a team-high 35 blocks and 8.3 rebounds. The patent 1-3-1 defense that Manhattan practices has been giving teams trouble all season long.
The Jaspers are forcing an average of 21.7 turnovers this season which ranks 14th in the country, and their 10.5 steals per game ranks 38th in the nation. Also, teams are shooting just 25 percent from behind the arc, giving Manhattan the 22nd best 3-point defense. However, the Jaspers also average 19.4 turnovers per game which ranks 306th out of 344 teams.
