Stags (2-5)(7-9) travel to Riverdale, NY to play Manhattan (6-9)(3-3) at 2:00 pm. THE JASPER SCOUTING REPORT: The Jaspers have dropped two-straight coming into this game, but both against great competition with first-place Siena and MAAC dynasty Marist. The most improved team in the MAAC, the Jaspers are 3-3 in the conference and a big reason has been the play of their new point guard Amani Tatum, a transfer from James Madison. Tatum leads the team in points (11.6) and steals (3.0, 31st in the nation). Kayla Grimme is the force inside the lane with 42 blocks (16th in the country) and eight rebounds per game (sixth in the MAAC). It has been that defense that the Jaspers have rode to their recent success. As a team, Manhattan forces 21.1 turnovers per game (16th best in the nation). Fairfield turned the ball over 18 times in their last meeting. Also, the 10.7 steals per game ranks 27th in the nation and the 5.0 blocks is 43rd. On the other side, Manhattan has the most turnovers in the MAAC with 18.7 per game. “I think this is our most important and biggest win of the year,” Head Coach Joe Frager said. “Manhattan is vastly improved. The last time we played them we didn’t respond well against their second half run. We did today.”....
“This is one of the greatest group of kids I ever had the pleasure of coaching,” Frager said. “They’re phenomenal kids, they’re great students, they’re really a sensitive group of kids sometimes. Confidence has been an issue for us. They should by now have a belief that when we get into these situations, we can respond.”
The next three games are home games for the Stags with two at AH and one double header at the WBA.
