The Fairfield University Men’s Lacrosse team continues its 2016 home slate on Conway Field at Rafferty Stadium with a Saturday visit from Bucknell. The faceoff on Conway Field is slated for 12 p.m. as the front-end of a doubleheader that will also feature Fairfield women’s lacrosse hosting Boston University at 3 p.m. Both ends of the Saturday afternoon twin bill will be broadcast live on FairfieldStags.TV. Gameday PromotionsFairfield is proud to announce vineyard vines as the presenting sponsor of Saturday’s doubleheader. A campus representative from Vineyard Vines will be distributing promotional items to Fairfield students on the concourse of Rafferty Stadium throughout the day. It is good to see that the Stag website release does have GAME DAY PROMOTIONS included in the copy. Encouraging more students to come to Rafferty Stadium tomorrow at Noon is a very good idea and vineyard vines is a freebie that the students will be interested in and the product is also sold in the BCC and Downtown Bookstores. In addition, the Stag website does have a pregame reception listed but it is still TBA which leads me to think that might or might not happen. www.fairfieldstags.com/SportSelect.dbml?&DB_OEM_ID=32500&SPID=137835&SPSID=1057310However, our fellow alumni in the area, especially the Fairfield County Alumni Chapter, should also be targeted along with local lax fans. Tailgating should be featured and promoted especially when the weather gets warmer as there are only 6 home games after Saturday. The March 12 game against Yale is being shown on SNY and ESPN3. There will be a pregame reception but that is also the game to promote to fill the stands. Sat, Mar 12 - Friends of Men's Lacrosse Pre-Game Reception at Rafferty Stadium at 12:00 p.m.

Stag Men's Lacrosse (0-2) lose 8-13 to Bucknell (3-0) at Rafferty Stadium. Stags give up 7 goals in the third period after leading 4-3 at the half.
Stags outscored 10/4 in the second half of the game.
Bucknell with a 60/19 shot advantage and win 19/25 faceoffs.
Stags with 23 saves in the game.
“There’s certainly things to work on which made today an uphill climb,” said Head Coach Andy Copelan. “But, with all that said, we had a one-goal lead at halftime and we just weren’t able to close. We just have to continue to get better.”...
Tyler Behring’s 23-save performance marked the best in the nation since Detroit’s Jason Weber turned away 28 offerings from Mercer on March 4, 2015. It was also the most saves by a CAA netminder since Austin Kaut made 25 stops for Penn State against Massachusetts on March 19, 2011. A Second Team All-CAA honoree last season, Behring also picked up one ground ball and recorded a caused turnover. He made 15 saves in Monday’s meeting with Richmond.
“We believe in Tyler. He’s dependable and we know what we’re going to get from him,” said Copelan of his junior goalkeeper.

Faceoffs/time of possession is our big problem this year. We need to improve.
Our offense looks good. Just need the ball more.

1,125 fans at the game but getting clobbered is not going to help bring the students and fans back to Rafferty Stadium. However, the Stag website has released a Stag Lacrosse Promotions Schedule which hopefully should help. A Basketball Promotions Schedule was eliminated this season but hopefully the University will have a similar Promotions Schedule back in place for the Stag Fall sports and again for Stag Basketball?

Not a good day for Stag Lacrosse at Rafferty Stadium. Stag Women's Lacrosse (1-1) also lose 8-13 to BU (1-1). "Today was a tough loss against a good BU team. While we had good effort across the board our execution was sloppier than it needed to be to win the game," said Head Coach Laura Field. "We'll look towards this week's practices to clean up the details and prepare for Columbia." Attendance: 196 Weather: high 50s, sunny, clear Box Score:www.fairfieldstags.com/fls/32500/Stats/WLAX/2016/ffdw0220.htm
