The senior leadership of Kristin Schatzlein helping the Stags to 11-conference wins and a number four seed in the MAAC Tournament has gotten the attention of the MAAC coaches. Schatzlein was one of five players named to the All-MAAC First Team, the league office announced today. Schatzlein becomes the first Fairfield guard to be named to the All-MAAC First Team since Sabra Wrice received the honor in 2008. Kelsey Carey and Casey Smith were also honored by the MAAC, receiving a place on the league’s Third Team. The three All-MAAC honorees are the most for the Stags in one season since 2011. www.maacsports.com/ViewArticle.dbml?DB_OEM_ID=17400&ATCLID=210759188

So, Lizzy Ball, 10th in the NATION is Assist/Turnover ratio, 17th in the Nation in assists and the MAAC leader in BOTH, doesn't merit a spot in the top 15 players in the league? Really? FYI: No other MAAC PG is in the top 50 in Assist/Turnover and there is only one other player, Sydney Coffey of Marist, in the Top 50 (she's 50). As far as total assists, Marina Lizarazu is next in the MAAC at number 30.

A little more perspective: Of the 16 players that finished ahead of Ball 13 of them played for teams that averaged over 70 ppg. Fairfield averaged 59.4. In the MAAC, Ball had 117 assists and 36 turnovers, which, over 20 games, is a 3.42 to 1 assist turnover ratio. Next up in the MAAC was Marina Lizarazu, an all First team player, who finished conference play at 2.1 to 1. Iona averaged 65ppg.

Nice local coverage in Staten Island for Kelsey Carey: Fairfield University's Kelsey Carey was named to the All-MAAC Third Team Monday for the first time in her career after pacing the Stags with 12.2 points per game during the regular season. The Stags' leading scorer also led the squad with five 20-point games, including a career-high 27 in a win over Harvard. That was not the only victory where Carey stepped up for the Stags as she averaged a team-high 14.8 points in victories this season. "It's nice to see Kelsey get that recognition," head coach Joe Frager said. "She obviously improved a great deal from her sophomore to junior year. Any time you get named on an all-league team, the challenge is always that the bar becomes raised. Now, you have to try and improve your game that much more to try and come back and hopefully, not only equal, but even surpass what she was able to do this year.".... www.silive.com/colleges/index.ssf/2016/02/fairfield_universitys_kelsey_c.html

Daily dose of hoops predicted that Samantha Cooper would get 3rd team ahead of Ball. That's 3 all league and possibly two borderline. That's a lot of talent for a 4th place finiish.

My point is simple. If you're a mid major and someone places in the top 10 out of 340 plus schools nationally, ignoring them is pretty stupid.
