FYI: On April 21, 2016 at 9:30 a.m., ground will be broken for the new Center for Nursing and Health Studies, home of the Marion Peckham Egan School of Nursing and Health Studies. The ceremony is located between the Rudolph F. Bannow Science Center and the DiMenna-Nyselius Library (near the St. Francis statue). Refreshments will follow the ceremony in the Rudolph F. Bannow Science Center atrium. Meredith Kazer, PhD, APRN, dean of the Egan School of Nursing and Health Studies, said, “We’ve expanded greatly over the last decades from a small undergraduate program of 200 to a population of almost 700 undergraduate and graduate students. This building will provide the necessary structure to facilitate excellent academics and ensure that our graduates will continue to lead healthcare innovations through the decades to come.” Expanding the University’s nursing and health studies initiatives, a new four-story Center for Nursing and Health Studies will rise as a cohesive center of educational excellence. The new facility will feature clinical learning and simulation centers, replicating hospital and clinic settings for enhanced practical learning. It will also feature immersive modern learning laboratories and active learning classrooms. Completion of the facility is projected for the fall of 2017. news.fairfield.edu/topstories/topstoryheadline%2C121403%2Cen.html?utm_source=newsat-4-15-16&utm_medium=allaudience&utm_campaign=substory2-son-groundbreaking

Yuck, more ugly modern architecture. Oh well, we will never have inspiring academic buildings like Notre Dame or Boston College.

They belong to the Prep! Why the University architects have failed to draw inspiration from the original Prep buildings is beyond me. I can't imagine how inspiring our campus would have been if they had stayed true to the original vision and buildings. There is something to be said about the buildings at Notre Dame and Boston College inspiring their growth and success. This new building and Donnarumma Hall not so much!
