Sophomore goalkeeper Megan DeFeo was named the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Defensive Player of the Week after posting back-to-back shutouts against the then top-two teams in the conference in Monmouth and Rider. In only six starts since taking over the goalkeeping position because of an injury, DeFeo has run with her chance, recording a 0.68 goals against average, the second best number in the MAAC.
“She’s shown a great deal of poise and a great deal of maturity,” Head Coach Jim O'Brien said. “In that regard from freshman to sophomore year I would say that she got some valuable experience during the spring season and this coming fall. We always knew she had a great deal of talent and this is what we expected from her.”
DeFeo and the Stags will look to build their unbeaten streak to three games to end the season when they take on Manhattan on Wednesday at 7pm.
