FYI:
Provost and Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs
Dear Fairfield University Community,
I want to thank the Board of Trustees at Fairfield University for their confidence and support in asking me to serve as your Interim President through the spring semester. Since my arrival at Fairfield, I have been inspired by my colleagues and impressed at the collaboration, creativity and innovation of the faculty and staff at this institution.
I began my career in nursing and health care, focused on improving access and quality of services to underserved populations. As I transitioned to higher education, my research continued to focus on the underserved. This work is a passion of mine, has served me well in my earlier career, and ultimately will serve me well in my future endeavors.
That is why I am writing to tell you I have accepted the position of President at Chaminade University, a private Marianist Catholic university in Honolulu, Hawaii at the end of my interim role as President of Fairfield in June 2017. Chaminade’s commitment as a native Hawaiian-serving institution focused on disparities in health, education and the criminal justice system spoke to my passion and commitment to the underserved. And on a personal note, Hawaii isn’t a bad place to finish out my career!
While I am excited for what lies ahead, I remain fully committed to Fairfield and the wonderful students, faculty and staff that I work with each and every day. We have made great strides and will continue to make progress in academics, with the overall strategic plan, with our master plan and facilities and in our overall growth as an institution. I look forward to the next six months working with all of you in driving Fairfield’s mission forward.
I wish everyone a wonderful holiday season and here’s to great start to 2017.
Best Wishes,
Lynn Babington
