FYI: Trump considering ex-Mets manager Bobby Valentine for Japan ambassadorship: reportThe former Mets skipper is being considered for the job and has discussed the opportunity with President-elect Donald Trump’s transition team, according to a WEEI.com report. Valentine, who is currently the Athletics Director for Sacred Heart University, has strong ties to the Land of the Rising Sun and to the 45th president. After managing the Mets from 1996-2002, Valentine helmed the Chiba Lotte Marines of Japan’s Pacific League for six seasons, leading the team to a championship in 2005. He's popular there plus does have some administrative experience. If the job is "open doors" for others to introduce various US government and corporate interests, he will be a great asset. If the job is negotiating high level deals, he will be out of his league.
