The Stags' Troy Scocca was named the MAAC Player of the Week for the first time this season and the second time in his career while Gavin Wallace took home his fourth MAAC Pitcher of the Week award this year, tying him with Rob Gariano for the most in a single season in program history. It is Wallace’s fifth overall weekly award. “Troy got extra base hits and drove the ball well to all fields,” Head Coach Bill Currier said. “It was also good to see him hit very well with men on base which helped his RBI totals.”Wallace continued one of the best Fairfield pitching seasons ever with a three-hit shutout against Siena, which gave the Stags a doubleheader sweep. “I felt Gavin got better as the game went,” Coach Currier said. “He certainly kept the ball down and up when it needed to be. His slider got better deeper in the game as well. Totally strong effort, he stayed ahead in a lot of counts and did a good job with efficiency in his pitch count.”MAAC Baseball Standings: TEAM MAAC PCT.
