I assumed there is some rule governing the total number of pitches a pitcher could throw within a designated time frame or limiting the number of consecutive starts a pitcher could make in the NCAA tournament but I was not able to locate that information.
Considering how spectacular Pallotta has been of late, can we again start her against McNeese State? And should we win that game, it looks like we play a doubleheader today (of course, a loss in either game means we're eliminated from the tournament).
If there's no rule governing number of pitches, would our best chance today be to pitch Pallotta in both games if we should be fortunate enough to win the first game against McNeese State?

There is no pitch count limit. One pitcher can throw every inning in the regional if the coach wanted them too. The strain on a softball pitchers arm is not the same as in baseball. Pallotto should get the start again and Hughens will be ready in relief.

The LSU Tigers survived a seventh-inning scare by the Stags, holding on to 2-1 victory Friday night at Tiger Park. LSU registered just two more hits off Destinee Pallotto after the first inning. The Tigers were 0 for 7 with runners on base against Pallotto. “They had a great pitcher on the mound tonight, so we have to hand it to her being able to mix in and out, up and down, and just being able to make the adjustments,” Griggs said. “If somebody hit a good ball the first inning, the second inning she was doing the complete opposite.”.....www.theadvocate.com/baton_rouge/sports/lsu/article_3ae4b554-3cfc-11e7-93ef-130cd3d777d4.html

After some questionable ball calls, Destinee Palotto gives up 3 run HR. Palotto has been lights out in the MAAC tourney and NCAA Tourney.
Mcneese leads 3-2 in the 3rd.

The Cowgirls added another run in the inning off an RBI single that made the score 4-2 after three complete innings. Fairfield had plenty of opportunities for the rest of the game, leaving 10 runners on base over the course of the game. But McNeese pitchers Rachel Smith and Alexsandra Flores would not yield another run the rest of the way for the 6-2 win. The Stags' Courtney Hankins finished the game with three hits in four at-bats while Tori Reed, Kristen Ball, Gianna Kinhofer, and Alisha Marshall each had a hit in the game. “I think we came out swinging the sticks and did a great job offensively," Head Coach Julie Brzezinski said. "McNeese is a great team, and they swung the bats well. (Pitcher) Destinee (Pallotto) tried as long as she could to hold up; she's been our workhorse for the last two weeks. The kids played hard and that's all we can ask for.”Stags (26-28)(11-9) finish the season as the 2017 MAAC Softball Champions and the NCAA bid for the second time in the last three years. Nicely done ladies. Box Score: www.mcneesesports.com/boxscore.aspx?path=softball&id=6061

Nice run by the Stags thru the NCAA and MAAC. Lots of athletic plays and clutch performances. Special mention to Destinee Palotto...... something she can remember for a lifetime.
