Volleyball: 2017 Schedule released, 12 games in Alumni Hall

“The 2016 season was one of the most successful in program history. We are looking to build upon that success and excitement and are doing so with our most challenging non-conference schedule in years,” said Todd Kress, a record five-time MAAC Coach of the Year. “Having one of the best Pac-12 programs in Washington State visit Alumni Hall is just part of the excitement and challenge to our season.”

“We will be pressed every match during our non-conference schedule to play our best, and our student-athletes are definitely up to the challenge,” Kress said. “This schedule will not only challenge us but in turn will prepare us for conference play as the MAAC continues to get stronger.”

Prior to the start of MAAC play, the Stags will challenge teams from nine different conferences (ACC, America East, Big East, Conference USA, Horizon, Missouri Valley, Northeast, Pac-12, Southern). At the end of the MAAC Regular Season, the 2017 MAAC Championship will bring the conference's top six teams to beautiful Alumni Hall on Nov. 17-19.

Fairfield posted an 18-0 record in the MAAC last season – the first team to ever finish 18-0 and then go on to win the MAAC Championship. The Stags, who went 28-6 overall in 2016, will enter the 2017 campaign with an active 31-match winning streak against MAAC foes.

Eleven student-athletes from Fairfield's 2016 MAAC Championship campaign are slated to return in 2017, including MAAC Player of the Year Skyler Day and fellow First Team All-MAAC honoree Megan Theiller.

Last season the Stags final RPI ranking was #118 out of the 334 NCAA Division 1 Volleyball programs. The Stags were 13-2 in 2016 and averaged 211 fans in Alumni Hall. In the 2016 NCAA Volleyball Tournament, the Stags lost 3-0 (14-25, 13-25, 15-25) at #15 Michigan State.
