After one of the more dominating seasons of any Fairfield pitcher, junior Gavin Wallace has been recognized regionally as he was named the 2017 New England Intercollegiate Baseball Association (NEIBA) Pitcher of the Year. Wallace becomes the first Stag in program history to receive a major award in the region with this selection. Additionally, designated hitter T roy Scocca earned a spot on the All-New England Second Team after leading the Stags as the team's main power threat. “It's definitely a great accolade that I'm proud of,” Wallace said. “At the end of the day we fell a little short of our goals this year, but we worked hard and I'm proud of our team that we got here. I'm happy to have the teammates that I got and wouldn't trade this for the world.”Wallace finished the regular season as the national leader with seven complete games. The Fairfield University Male Athlete of the Year also set a single season program record with four shutouts to his credit. “It's an honor to be mentioned among the best players in New England,” Scocca said. “It's a true testament to the team. I couldn't have done it without my team and the success we had. It's a great accomplishment and it's really humbling.”
