Fairfield freshman Alex Madden (Leicestershire, England) was named the 2017 MAAC Women's Soccer Co-Rookie of the Year, sharing the major honor with Quinnipiac's Kelsey Goldring. Madden becomes the fifth Rookie of the Year in program history and the first since Nicole Cavallaro took home the honor in 2007. Coincidentally, Madden's seven goals are the most scored by a Stags rookie since Cavallaro also netted seven that season. "We are thrilled that Alex received this well-deserved honor," Head Coach Jim O'Brien said. "Alex has been our most consistent attacking player and has adapted well to a new country and environment. Her best is yet to come. We are proud to have Alex part of our program now and in the future."Madden was also the Stags' lone representative on the league's All-Rookie team. In addition to Madden's honors, 12 Stags were named to the All-Academic team. Katie Brady, Kelsey Burke, Faith Daley, Megan DeFeo, Kiley Deignan, Jackie Goudreault, Holly Habyan, Melanie Hingher, Jenny Jacobs, Katherine Lynch, Jenna Pike, and Taylor Psirogianes all earned a spot on the team by maintaining a GPA of 3.2 or higher. www.maacsports.com/news/2017/10/30/maac-announces-2017-womens-soccer-all-maac-teams-major-award-winners.aspx
