The MAAC Regular-Season title, #1 seed in the 2017 MAAC Men's Soccer tournament and hosting a home game on Lessing Field where the Stags are (5-1-1) all would seem to provide an advantage for the Fairfield University Men's Soccer team as it begins play tonight in the 2017 MAAC Tournament. But Stags' Head Coach Carl Rees knows that none of those things will put any goals on the scoreboard when it plays the #5 seed Quinnipiac University Thursday night at 7:00 pm. "Quinnipiac is a much improved team from when we played them," Rees said. "There has been a whole conference schedule since our game in September. Quinnipiac's non-conference schedule was very difficult and that affected their overall record. They have been one of the best teams proven over the conference schedule. But I also think we are a better team than we were when we played them as well."The two teams met on September 27 with the Stags (11-4-2)(7-1-2) taking a road win over Quinnioiac (8-9-1)(6-4) by a 1-0 score. The winner of this game will advance to the MAAC Championship game on Sunday and play the winner of the #3 seed Canisius College and #2 seed Rider University.
