The trip is a homecoming for two Stags – Sydney Williams (Porter,TX) and Luci Albertson (Cedar Park,TX). "I'm excited to play close to home again," said Williams. "My family was able to make the trip (in 2015) and I have a lot of friends that attend the University. Our mindset is that anything is possible," Williams continued. "We've been working hard preparing for any team that's on the other side of the net. We competed well against Texas two years ago, so we know that anything can happen."

A far cry from playing in Alumni Hall, "The Home Of The Stags": Texas Volleyball plays all its home matches in historic 4,000 seat Gregory Gym, one of the finest collegiate volleyball facilities in the country. The site that produced some of the most memorable moments in UT history made its much-anticipated return in 1998 after an eight-year layoff which saw Texas split time between UT's Recreational Sports Center and the Frank Erwin Center. The state of the art Gregory Gym features a friendlier, roomier environment for players, coaches and fans alike. Spacious locker rooms, offices, meeting rooms and a players' lounge were constructed, as well as a new sound system -- both on the court and in the team room -- and a new playing surface. Longhorns fans are treated to upper-level seating that puts them right on top of the action. Additionally, fans on the floor level are treated to seat backs for more comfortable viewing. One thing that hasn't changed about the facility is the tremendous support the Longhorns receive from their fans. Nearly 500,000 spectators have turned out since the 1982 season for an average attendance of more than 1,500 per match. And the Longhorns have sent their fans home happy with victories in more than 82 percent of those matches.

Good luck to the stags. I hope they can win one game in the match. Texas is a powerhouse and most likely will dispatch the stags back to CT , 3-0.

Probably but i relish the chance to prove the world wrong. 20 years ago our men’s hoops team almost did just that. I don’t see a Swirge Zwicker on the UT roster.

Stags (25-7) lose 3-0 (16-25, 18-25, 17-25) to #2 Texas (25-2). Congratulations to Coach Kress, his staff and the team for another great season, another undefeated MAAC season (#2), another MAAC Regular Season title (#17), another MAAC Volleyball Championship (#10) and another NCAA Tournament (#10). A very respectable showing and a hard fought match tonight against one of the best D-1 volleyball programs in the country. Great experience for the team at the highest level again and a great recruiting tool for the University. Well done ladies!

Texas sweeps Fairfield to advance to second roundTexas entered Thursday’s match against Fairfield with every advantage imaginable. The Longhorns had the depth, the No. 6 seed in the tournament and 3,817 fans at Gregory Gym behind them. But the Stags were anything but deer in the headlights, fighting tooth and nail with the Longhorns every step of the way. “In the NCAA tournament, there’s a lot of nerves,” head coach Jerritt Elliott said. “But I thought we were able to settle down, and we got some great production from our middles early on to give us some separation.”... Fairfield had no answer for the Texas defense, especially on the front line. Five different Longhorns recorded at least one block in the set, stifling the Stags at every turn. But the feisty road team led by head coach Todd Kress refused to quit, fending off three set points to bring the score to 24-18. Each time the crowd held its breath, ready to explode, and each time they exhaled in frustration. Junior middle blocker Morgan Johnson finally put an end to the comeback bid, launching a missile through the heart of the Fairfield defense to secure the 25-18 win and take a two-set lead. “We knew (Fairfield) would fight,” Elliott said. “They got after it, and I have a lot of respect for what Todd (Kress) has done with this program.”Read more:dailytexanonline.com/2017/12/01/texas-sweeps-fairfield-to-advance-to-second-round
