The accolades didn't stop at a National Player of the Week honor for Fairfield University Baseball junior John Signore who was named the MAAC Pitcher of the Week today after a career pitching performance at Canisius. Signore, who earned his first career Pitcher of the Week honor from the conference, struck out a career-high 14 batters and allowed just two hits in eight shutout innings against the Griffs. Signore has not lost a game in the conference since April 1, 2016 against Rider, his first career start in the MAAC. Since then, Signore holds an 8-0 conference mark with a 2.56 ERA in 91.2 innings where he has struck out 93 batters. Signore currently leads the MAAC with 40 strikeouts while his 11.74 Ks per nine innings and 5.71 strikeout-to-walk ratio ranks second in the league. His 174 career strikeouts now brings him in the top-10 in program history, placing him ninth all-time as a Stag. Signore will get his second start of the 2018 MAAC Schedule when the Stags welcome Niagara to Alumni Diamond for a three-game series starting on Friday at Noon.
