Freshman Drew Westford (Ferndale, Wash.) earned the MAAC Softball Rookie of the Week after helping the Stags post a 5-0 record last week. Four of those five victories occurred in conference play. For the season, the catcher ranks second among her teammates with a .341 batting average which includes 15 hits in her 20 appearances this season. She has six extra base hits to her credit, registering three doubles, a triple, and two home runs. Her two home runs represent the best season total among Fairfield freshman and places third overall on the team. Westford leads the team with a .591 slugging percentage and has thrown a team-best five base stealers from behind the plate. The Stags, under Head Coach Julie Brzezinski, own a 12-19 overall record and a 4-2 MAAC mark. The Stags will play a non-conference game at Sacred Heart University on Thursday before returning to MAAC conference action over the weekend. Fairfield hosts doubleheaders against Iona and Marist on Saturday and Sunday with both games starting at Noon.
